Comfortable ballet flats that last?

HeyNannyNanny · 08/02/2019 13:36

I have size 6, moderately wide feet.

I don't have a budget, happy to spend whatever will mean good quality, comfy shoes that last

Any suggestions gladly recieved!

The M and S ones with the square toe shape are well made. Definitely ok for wider feet.,If you can afford it (and they fit) the Russell and Bromley flats are brilliant. You would need to try them though. Also try Peter Kaiser for flats.

@BubblesBuddy that's great, thank you!

I've had a pair like this from Clarks since 2015 and they were like slippers from Day 1 and they're still going strong for this summer.

Try these two from M and S. I tend to be happy to buy new pairs and change colours. The French Sole ones don’t last but they are the traditional shape! My oldest Russell and Bromley ones are 10 years old. I like the bow ones! However not all shapes accommodate wider feet.

I’ve found the Hobbs prior ballerina pumps to be pretty long lasting

Betty777 · 08/02/2019 18:55

I have these or very similar in nude ballet pink

Waaaaaay more than I would normally pay for shoes, but they have been comfortable since day one, haven't stretched and look great three years on. I'm also a size 6 with wide feet and they've fit perfectly.
Not hugely structured though, so maybe not the choice if you plan to do loads of walking and want arch support, but definitely worth considering

Oly4 · 08/02/2019 19:12

Russell and Bromley Charming are amazing - come and last years.
I’ve literally been through hundreds of ballet flats over the years but these are now my go-to shoes. Smart and hard wearing!

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 08/02/2019 19:15

I posted a thread about this last spring, many decent suggestions but the only ones that really worked for me were Gabor.

Unless you have the feet of an actual ballerina avoid French Sole like the plague.

Clarks’ are shit too.

reallemonade · 08/02/2019 20:23

M&S ones are best ime. Comfortable and last well, can also get in a wide fitting

Mummy0ftwo12 · 08/02/2019 20:36

Gabor for me too,

shumm · 08/02/2019 20:37

Kokua Barcelona - you can buy online. They are amazing shoes.

ilovewelshrarebit123 · 08/02/2019 20:39

My friend only wears ballet flats, she swears by Gabor to. Not cheap but they last and she said they are very comfortable.

Comfortable Ballet Flats is an oxy moron.

They are completely unsupportive and will either be too tight or cause clawing . They cause over pronation.
No cushioning on your heels .

But hey !

Your feet , your rules .

Keeps me in a job for the foreseeable .

mistermagpie · 08/02/2019 20:47

Sorry to hijack... 70 are you a podiatrist or similar? What kind of shoes would you recommend?

I've also been on the lookout for comfy ballet flats but I do walk a lot and know they aren't the best. I need something ok for corporate wear, not boots and not casual or heels. I can't wear brogues because I have skinny legs and big feet and they end up looking like golf clubs. It's really tricky.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 08/02/2019 20:54

Arch support
Fastening (lace or strap)
Good toe box space , rounded .
Enough to let your toes lie flat but not crunch to keep them on.

Basically everything ballet flats are not They are pretty and delicate shoes , fine for a special occasion but not for everyday .

And when I see little girls with ballet flats flopping up and down the heel while they bunch their toes and 'skliff' their shoes (my Mums word very descriptive) i could weep .

Shitty cheap Ugg-u-likes types that collapse like a big sock , and Heeleys are another bug bear of mine .
I need to get off S&B Grin

trader21c · 08/02/2019 21:01

Gabor splash

Redskyandrainbows67 · 08/02/2019 21:03

My pretty ballerina ones lasted for years and I wore them everyday

SweetPeaPods · 08/02/2019 21:21

Following with interest. I really need to invest in some new work flats though not sure I can justify the R&B price tag! DH would go mad, I’ve bought a few pairs last year from Next, M&S and Clarks and all uncomfortable after wearing a couple of times so now sit unworn in a box!

IlonaRN · 08/02/2019 21:23

Aerosols are good.
The ones I have "grip" the back of my heel so I don't need to scrunch my toes to keep them on!
They are also very comfortable and I walk in them a lot - I also wear them at work.

IlonaRN · 08/02/2019 21:27

Can't edit: Aerosoles

wheresmyliveship · 08/02/2019 21:29

I have the same ones as @dontcallmecharlotte. Have worn them every day at work for about three years. So comfortable!

anniehm · 08/02/2019 21:40

My Clark's ones are 4 years old and still fine, that said my others are Asda and they are 6 years old and used far more but also look fine

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 08/02/2019 22:16

Just when I thought a shared love of Emmerdale wasn’t enough @70isalimitnotatarget Star

Wavyheaded · 09/02/2019 01:23

I've just splashed out on a pair of Fitflop Allegras. Haven't worn them out yet (too cold!) but they seem really nice and supportive, and not chunky.
