Have you had Bottox?

I am considering it... I know a couple of people that have it and not only they have smoother foreheads, their face looks brighter and more refreshed. They don't over do it and I think it looks good. They obviously recommend it and one of them has opened her own clinic.

But I am scared of needle medical procedures (but have tattoos, so superficial stuff is ok I think). And i am scared of it going wrong.

So if you know anything about it, can you give me your opinion?

Thanks!

I have it between my eyebrows. It takes about one minute to get the five small injections. It's very slightly uncomfortable, but not as sore as an eyebrow wax.

I haven't seen immediate results because I have a deep, static line. It's more to stop it getting worse and to relax my expression.

DP hasn't noticed I have it.

AwdBovril · 08/02/2019 11:03

I have, but only for migraines. So I can't comment on the anti-wrinkle aspect. Apparently the injections are basically the same, it's just the placement that is different. I can confirm they do hurt, but only for a second, & I had quite an unpleasant headache for a couple of days afterwards. But that could be because most of mine are in the scalp rather than the face.

I have over 30 injections, BTW. I should imagine the headache is also caused by the number of injections I have. If it was only 5 or so, I probably wouldn't get the headache.

Thank you!! my lines are quite marked, and I have two on my top lip that are horrible, but I love the refreshed look

"DP hasn't noticed I have it." I am not planing on telling him either.

AwdBovril i didn't know it helps with migraines, I thought that would be and "inside" issue, not a scalp one, very interesting!

Try and go to someone personally recommended to you. Failing that, a doctor or dentist who does a lot of Botox.

It’s good to be clear whether you want “frozen face” (some people do) or to be left with more movement in your forehead.

There are quite a lot of injections though so you need to think whether it’s worth it if you’re nervous of them.

Had it three times now, no issue and I'm a delicate flower immunocompromised person

MollysLips · 08/02/2019 14:12

I've had loads. :-) I'm scared of anything medical, or the dentist, etc. But the Botox injections are NOTHING to worry about. To me, it honestly feels like just the very tip of the needle goes into the skin. (I'm sure it's more than that, but it feels like a little tiny prick - and I've had loads of those. Snicker.)

Definitely get a recommendation, and get someone to come with you if you're nervous. You can go along and have just a chat first, to see if you like the person. It's fine.

Yeah I would ask the women i have seen and have openly asked about it. they are school mums. I would've gone to the one that opened the clinic but she is in the other side of the world.

Sorry they have "openly talked about it".

Thanks MollysLips.

As above, please go to someone good.

Get a recommendation, then google them thoroughly. Better to pay a bit more than go to a 'beauty salon' (honestly) Especially true for your first botox

But iv'e had it 5 times in 5 years. Def makes me look younger and less angry

My therapist said she thought it made people happier by changing the set of their facial muscles. The relaxation of frown lines (what I went for) made them feel generally slightly better about life, so it showed in the face. Given that she was once a cardiologist and retrained as an aesthetician, I would take her view quite seriously.

theharlotletter · 08/02/2019 21:29

Yes I have. Had it in the usual three places before Xmas and stressed that I just wanted it done with a light hand. Well it was so light that absolutely nothing happened Grin So when I went back a month later for the top up they used more and it has definitely smoothed the lines but it has made my left eyelid droop very slightly at the inner corner of my eye. I think this is because apparently I have very strong muscles on the left of my 11s so to ease those muscles enough to have an effect it's resulted in making that inner eyelid droop. So looks like I'll have to choose between slightly deeper 11s or having a droopy lid Hmm

Chesneyhawkes1 · 09/02/2019 22:01

I had it for the first time on Thursday. Forehead, between eyes and crows feet. Didn't hurt at all. I was so surprised.

I don't really have wrinkles yet but don't want any 👍🏻

Kione · 10/02/2019 16:36

Oh... the droopy eyelid is what I am worried about, is it very noticeable?

Hi. No it is very slight honestly and next time the therapist will be able to compensate.
