Where can I buy jeans?

I've had a couple of disastrous online purchases recently and can't face the order/return cycle anymore.

Where can I go to try on a load of jeans, preferably different brands, in a quest to find the perfect pair?

Debenhams?

What shape are you OP? Someone who is the same as you might be along with a recommendation for brands?

Thanks for responding! I like to think I'm hourglass but really I'm a pear! I've heard skinny jeans are dead so have been looking at boyfriend/mom jeans.

Finding sizes a bit random. A 30 from Monki were snug but a 30 from J Brand was huge and a Hush 10 also had room to spare.

John Lewis
Book a personal shopper and they do all the running!

Good idea. I did that for my post mat leave work wardrobe and it was amazing. Didn't think of it for casual clothes. Feel like I should be able to do that myself!

If you're in the Southeast, trek to Selfridges who have a whole floor devoted to jeans.

MissMarplesKnitting · 08/02/2019 20:04

Good old marks are decent.

I love a new look jeans shop. Very reasonable so can buy in few colours.

Next shaping ones are fantastic too.

MrsJamin · 08/02/2019 20:07

Topshop Jamie jeans are brilliant. A little stretch but thick enough to still feel like jeans and not leggings.

Ellapaella · 08/02/2019 20:08

I hate jeans shopping. Every brand and shop seems to be a totally different.
I'd recommend trying a brand such as Levi's where the sizes are much more accurate so you can go on waist measurement rather than traditional clothes size.
Levi's shop or John Lewis.

I just order them online. Try at home with stuff I already have, and if they don't fit we'll tape them back. Next catalogue etc.

expatmigrant · 08/02/2019 21:28

Selfridges if you're in travelling distance of Oxford Street, good for branded jeans, but I've also found some good fits in gap and French Connection and I also like the Next shape and lift jeans.

I really do think that with jeans the best thing to do is to try on lots and lots of different styles, brands and sizes. They are all so different.

WinkysTeatowel · 08/02/2019 22:13

House of Fraser will have loads of different brands.

Petalflowers · 08/02/2019 22:14

A large M and S store - best jeans i’ve Had

viccat · 08/02/2019 22:17

I really like M&S jeans too and they have lots of different styles and colours. Although you really have to try them on because the sizing is oddly inconsistent so one colour of the same style might fit smaller than the other and so on.

Totally and I don't want to have to go to 10 different shops so Selfridge's or a department store are probably the best bet. My worry about the former is I'll find a pair at £200 that are absolutely dreamy ...

(Un) fortunately, I'm in London for half term so can see some spendy denim in my future!
