I’m 3 months in. I felt a bit like that at the beginning and my mouth was constantly dry. After a couple of weeks, it settled down and I was used to it. Then I had attachments added a month into treatment and it was like starting over again, but I was used to them after a few days.

The odd tray feels painful for the first day or so, but after 3 months, I can really start to see a difference in my teeth now - hang in there, it will get better!

I am all finished now, had them for 8 months last year. But I do remember that firs week was horrible, I got a lot of ulcers and couldn't speak properly or close my mouth like you said! Trust me, you get used to them, it will get better and it will become second nature to you and you won't notice you are wearing them until you put the next set in and they are tight for a couple of days. And the results are so worth it!

I’m almost a year in. The results for me are great. Initially yes it was a bit of pain. But you get used to it.

My tip would be to change the aligners of an evening.

If they’re rubbing get some orthodontic wax from boots.

i had mine 8 years ago and am still so glad I did it!

I second the advice above to wear them in at night in the first instance - you get used to them overnight and you don't have to talk.

I also found that i took them out a fair bit of the time whilst I was at work/out to dinner, etc. I know your dentist won't advise that but it just means that the whole process takes a bit longer, but it still works. useful if you have a lot of meetings at work, have to do presentations etc

I only take mine out now when I eat. I know it’s water only. But I drink far too much tea and coffee. So it’s more convenient for me. Avoid red wine with them in though....

But best thing I’ve ever done.
