How do I sort out my skin texture?

Any wonder products to give me smooth skin? It’s not spotty as such, just rough and bumpy and biiig pores (and wrinkles, argh).

I have had loads of success with The Ordinary niacinamide and alpha lipoic acid which gave me beautiful glowy skin. Now neither work Hmm

Happy to fork out if something is really really excellent. But I’m just sick of my skin looking wrinkly and bumpy and crap.

Hi - have a google of 'tretinoin' or 'Retin-a' (the US term). It's prescription only in the UK but is one of the only topical products that actually works - for anti-ageing, pores, spots, pigmentation etc. But do go to a dermatologist. I wouldn't buy it over eBay (although you can). If you google 'hot and flashy' - not as rude as it sounds - she has great info on Retin-A. She started using it at 50 and it has really worked for her but you have to build it up very slowly.

Salicylic acid (The Ordinary do a cheap one) works for my bumpiness.

Another recommendation for Retin A I get mine in Thailand when I visit for about £5 from Boots.

Yes, tretoin AKA Retin-A. Just make an appointment with a dermatologist to get a prescription.

I had skin like yours. Not spotty but just looked rough/bumpy. Started drinking 2.5 litres of water a day and eating lots and lots of veg. After a few weeks there was a huge improvement and my skin looks so much fresher and smoother, without using different products etc.

You might have cracked it Chrisjen I’ve recently gone back to work full time, and with nursery run and being utterly knackered my diet has taken a huge hit. Think I need to get back on the water and veggies!

I’ll look into dermatologists near me and see if I can get some Retin-A. Sounds good! Do you go through the ‘purging’ phase with it?

It peels a lot... you have to work up very gradually. Start using once or twice a week (only at night, on dry skin, after cleansing) - and keep that up for a few weeks. Then use it one more time a week for a few weeks. You must wear spf 50 every day though.
