Concealer / foundation to cover up red rash on face

Recently been suffering with sebhorreic dermatitis (think that’s how to spell it!) on my chin/ mouth area. It will not go away. Been trying not to wear make up on a day to day basis but need a really heavy duty foundation and concealer to cover up the red rash for when I’m out for occasions. The concealer needs to be for spots rather than dark circles. Any recommendations please?

I have seen good stuff about It Cosmetics.

Double wear is brilliant

I've been getting peri-menopausal flushing and my cheeks go really bright red. My usual EL Double Wear does NOT disguise it. Gst some Dermacol. Cheap, thick, heavy... go easy as a little goes a long way and covers everything

I use l'oreal infallible to cover my rosacea, and a green colour corrector.

Kevin Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer covers everything and can be used neat or mixed with moisturiser for a lighter finish, it’s expensive but my pots last a year as you only have to use a tiny amount, I have repurchased three times

Definitely dermacol. It’s amazing. I use it to cover rosacea and you only need a bit of it. It has a nice finish too. Make sure you get it from ‘fabled’ as I’ve accidentally bought so many fakes. I eventually spoke to dermacol and fabled I think is the only official retailer in the U.K.!

Will try Dermacol - it's not coming up on Fabled. Do they have their own site?

Are you sure it’s sebhorreic dermatitis and not perioral dermatitis? I’ve just recently had the latter as a result of hormonal changes during pregnancy. If it is perioral dermatitis, antibiotics (lymecycline) should clear it up. Mine was also around my chin/mouth xx

PunishmentSnart · 12/03/2019 16:52

Actually - I think it may have started to get a lot worse with my last pregnancy and has just stayed (nearly 2 years!!) so it may be. I will make an appointment with my GP to ask as the canesten she gave last time doesn't seem to be clearing it up. Thank!

It can persist months/years without treatment. I couldn’t treat it while pregnant as the antibiotics aren’t suitable when pregnant. However, once I’d finished breastfeeding, antibiotics cleared it up completely in about 6 weeks xx

I have had good success with Revolution Pro full cover camouflage foundation.
It's full coverage on my red cheeks (rosacea), and hormonal acne, but is not dry, flaky and cakey on the dehydrated patches. The finish is skin like, similar to the dermacol I suspect, and can be set with powder for a long lasting medium to full coverage.
Great value, and easily purchased from Superdrug.
I have struggled terribly with my skin this winter, and have tried many full coverage foundations, such as Estee lauder double wear, Revolution stick foundation and conceal and define foundation, and the new loreal 24 hour freshwear foundation. Unfortunately, all have left my skin dry, flaky and tight - not to mention very unattractive. I have found the dewy, skin like foundations the most flattering (but then have to deal with the oil slick later). Sad
I also like Maybelline fit me concealer for spots and pigmentation. It blends in well over foundation without caking, or looking dry, and adds to the skin like finish. Cheap too, and I order from amazon.
