Summer clothes

I can't dress for summer, never have been able to regardless of size. I am not comfortable with showing bare legs, upper arms, stomach, or cleavage, I love Autumn/winter for dresses, boots and think tights, so Summer is a nightmare.

I'm trying to get ahead of myself this year and asking for ideas, style tips etc Is there such a thing as a lightweight, long sleeved, non plunge maxi dress?! I'm a 14/16 stumpy legged, large of chest, things and hip Hmm is there hope?!

Have you thought about shirt dresses? Depending on the design you might be able to button up quite high? There’s also a huge choice in midi dresses available at the moment if you are comfortable having your ankles visible. Might be worth expanding your choice to include jumpsuits too. If you give an indication of budget then posters might be able to make some suggestions?

I’m following as I’m similar size but taller. The only area I’m comfortable with is my cleavage! I’ve got long legs but awful feet; so I hate sandals (especially now I’ve developed patches of psoriasis on the top of my foot!). I’m dreading summer and have no idea what so csn west without feeling incredibly self conscious:)

what about a floaty linen shirt/tunic, cropped trousers and pumps/trainers?

I have a wardrobe of jersey dresses, mainly from seasalt and whitestuff. Not suitable for the very hot weather but the busy patterns make the areas you are not happy about less obvious. If it is very hot I wear a loose cut cotton or linen sleeveless dress but keep a jacket hand to cover up if needed. Midi is the length this year so no need to worry about legs. I'd go for low/ mid heeled sandals with just the toe area exposed.

I’m the same op. Hate summer clothes and can’t ever find anything that suits me. I spent all of last summer inc heatwave in jeans and t shirts Blush

I go with loose linen trousers and t-shirt shaped tops. I'd never venture into dress territory!

Same here. I have to have my comfort scarves and cardigans forcibly removed in the late spring summer and have genuine excitement when I get to start wearing them again.

I feel utterly exposed, sweaty, plump and like I'm just always 1 beat behind any trends. For this reason, I hate summer clothing! Except for holiday where I plan with floaty kaftans and nice dresses for the evening. Can't really do my job / school run dressed like that though!

I bought a couple of kimonos last year which I completely over-wore, but it was again trying to find the comfort of not being exposed, despite the sweltering heat.

I live in linen blend trousers from March to November (it's hot here!)
I wear sandals, but some canvas pumps or Tom's would work.
Paired with short sleeved tee shirts, but I also have some cotton tunics (from Uniqulo, but dont know if they still do them) which are long sleeved, and light weight.

I’m a short size 14 and lived in cropped wide linen culottes and linen v neck T-shirt’s last summer. On cooler days I wore the culottes with loose Jigsaw cotton jumpers. If you’ve got a chest then scoop or v necked tops are best. In my experience shirt dresses are one of the hardest things to wear if you’re short and a size 14-16. Likewise I find patterns really hard to wear all over. Although patterned skirts are good. I also tended to stick mainly to a colour palette of blue and white so everything went together.Though I did have the odd flirtation with ochre & khaki at times.
I also think if you have a pedicure, moisturise and some brightly coloured toes plus fake tan on no one will notice your dodgy feet. Most people’s feet look grotty in winter anyway.
