I've had it for a while now but thought I'd got it sorted. After having a stressful Christmas, then being ill, I've got it with a vengeance.

Does anyone know of sync quick relief?

It's really itchy and burning tonight Confused

Sorry to hear it, OP. I have type 2 and a bit of type 1. I gave up on antibiotics and the azaleic acid several years ago as neither helped me. In fact, I ended up with IBS because of the antibiotics. I think my best recommendation is finding some really nice skincare that makes skin comfortable and doesn't hurt is a start. Personally, I've found Espa products really nice and I would consider a facial if you can. For bed, I use a facial oil with a thick creme every few days. I like Payot creme no 2 which works well as an overnight mask to reduce redness. Some foods are a real trigger so I avoid those. I have the most terrible reaction which I think might be an allergy to Fever Tree tonic (and fine with all other brands) and things like the garlic dip from dominoes will make me mildly uncomfortable. I don't think there's a cure but I swear by drinking kefir every day to look after my insides as I am sure my rosacea is worse when I am suffering on the inside. Hope you can get some improvement soon x

Lymacycline is the best thing i found! I went through all the topical creams, no help, made it worse. At its worse when i started the antibiotics, i had a few sessions of IPL too, and wow, what a difference. I take the anti-biotics still years later (on and off) and most of the time theres only slight redness, easy to cover up, no more rough, bumpy cheeks, amazing. I use Nivea sensitive skin facial wash, nivea sensitive moisturiser (day) and sweet almond oil at night. Foundation - Clinque Even Better and Benefit Boi-oing concealer, no there concealers ive tried come close to that one. Good luck.

ilovebruuuceandbags - do you think it was the IPL or the Lymacycline that helped with the redness?

JiltedJohnsJulie · 03/02/2019 17:17

I'm really hoping my ignorance now, can I ask what IPL is please?

Soolantra is a god send for rosacea! You can get it from Pharmacy2U.
I’d be interested to hear about IPL too as I’m left a bit rosey :)

teta · 03/02/2019 18:05

Ipl is ‘ intense pulsed light’. It’s good for reducing redness and tiny red veins. You can’t have it if you have a tan so it’s best performed in winter. It’s variably effective! Some veins need proper laser treatment. It’s worked on my diffuse redness .
It’s worth saying doctors do believe there is a increasing link between Rosacea and gut bacteria. I have Ibs too and try and follow the Fodmap diet as much as possible, plus have Kefir & probiotics regularly. Turmeric is also anti- inflammatory.

After much research I asked my doctor for Soolantra, I had very sore red bumpy skin with multiple pustules daily.
Its been amazing, worked brilliantly, I can't believe how bad it used to be as my complexion now is perfect. I t started working within 2 weeks, I think it was totally gone after 4/5 months.

LottaRain · 03/02/2019 18:37

I went to the GP and got antibiotics. Drastically improved in a week and it's been getting better ever since.

Storminateacup74 · 03/02/2019 18:42

I suffered really badly about rbyears ago and had an antibiotic cream for ahout 18 months that cleared it. I also now use Eau Dr Avene Anti redness cream for a moisturiser and since stopping the antibiotics and using this it hasn't come back. It does flare up if I drink red wine though!!

That's really interesting. I haven't drunk red wine for ages and have started again over the winter Hmm

@Mummy0f2 When it was really raw i had possibly 3 sessions of the IPL, with a 2 or 3 week gain between and it helped so much - this was maybe 8 years ago so cant remember how long in between, that, with the antibiotics was a huge relief - i had got to the point where i didn't want to see people it was so bad. I haven't had IPL since but haven't needed to, the antibiotics are enough for me now. IPL did hurt a bit
(a bit like a little pinging elastic really fast!) and you'd want to go straight home and not go out again that day, as you cant wear make up for it and it makes it go more red immediately after. It was worth the £. Think it was approx £100 per session back then with the Dermatologist at a private hospital - my GP advised who to go to.

mikado1 · 03/02/2019 20:50

Some things that helped me: oil cleansers, double, keeping my face clean very important. Thermal water spritz, physically cooling my face a few times a day. All the products are use are for allergic/reactive skin. SPF daily (I use an amazingly soothing SPF day cream which is perfect). I have used a topical antibiotic in the past.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 03/02/2019 21:25

Thanks for that teta.
The link between gut bacteria and rosacea is interesting, especially as I have CMPA.

Booze makes mine flare up, sadly.

Rosex antib gel sorts it our rapidly though.

Lndnmummy · 05/02/2019 21:50

Def believe in link with gut bacteria. A good probiotic has helped me. This weather is hell for it though as is red wine for me.
