Patchy eyebrow solutions that don't look like slugs!

With age over zealous removal of grey eyebrow hair my once reasonable eyebrows now look sparse and untidy. I've never done any more than regular threading and a slick of Vaseline but clearly need to up my game now but really hate the current trend for dense slug eye brows. Will a basic powder & brush be the best place to start and is there a more permanent solution to filling gaps?

Will try and find a photo...

Eyebrow pencil, I have a brown one and my brows look less sparse.

BathTangle · 02/02/2019 14:11

Second the eyebrow pencil: Benefit do one called Goof proof that I really like.

Allthepinkunicorns · 02/02/2019 16:41

I use a similar eye shadow colour to my brows and fill in the gaps looks a lot more natural than brow pencils in my opinion. You can then fix with a brow gel if you like.

I let the girl on the Benefit counter do powder, pencil and a mascara type thing. The one that was like mascara produced by far the least scary result. Just goes on existing and makes them fuller.

Rapidbrow- will help the hair grow where it's missing. Not cheap but does work. Buy off Amazon

I'm getting PhiBrows done next week. They can look really fake and thick or you can get them done to look very natural. I'm fair so I'll be asking for a light, natural look. I absolutely cannot wait to throw away all my eyebrow pencils and powders forever!!!

TattiePants · 03/02/2019 16:57

I second Benefit's Goof Proof pencil. Until a month ago I had never used anything on my brows (apart from tweezers) and can't believe the difference it makes. Just very light strokes followed by blending it with the spoolie and it looks really natural.

I use wunderbrow. Stays on for a couple of days

Squ1ggle · 03/02/2019 17:17

This stuff is great m.maccosmetics.co.uk/product/13834/30804/products/makeup/eyes/brow/pro-longwear-waterproof-brow-set#/shade/Brown_Ebony I used to use something similar by benefit but they discontinued it. Fills in the gaps and helps shape and define but doesn't result in slugs

I ended up getting mine microbladed for this reason. Very happy with results.

GimmeBread · 03/02/2019 17:19

Brow powder and a brush - I wouldn't recommend pencil. My brows are blond and utterly invisible. I used a pencil for years then someone did them with powder. It was a revelation! Sleek do a good one but I'm using Benefit Brows just now.

If you're looking for something more permanent, have you looked into microblading? I know someone who had it done after she lost her brows due to alopecia.

justtakingabath · 03/02/2019 17:32

rub with castor oil regularly overnight, even better if it has a tiny drop of peppermint essential oil mixed in (do not get peppermint near your actual eyes tho). I use a cotton bud to apply. Both help to regrow lost hair.

Mymadworld · 03/02/2019 18:56

I've ordered the Benefit goof proof brows so will let you know how I get on - thanks all.

I too have plucked one grey eyebrow hair too many times. I keep promising myself i well let them be, i wear my natural hair colour on my head so why not my eye brows! But i do now have a gap in one eye brow. I'm just tryying different products. I used to use eye shadow. That worked fine but I've since stopped buying pallets so no longer get the random colour that works on my brows. I've tried a benefit thing, didn't like it. I'm now trying a loreal brow kit. I need practice though and patience. That is not a job I can do quickly!

LadyLapsang · 03/02/2019 21:40

Have you had your thyroid levels checked?

Mymadworld · 03/02/2019 23:09

No @LadyLapsang but assuming you're referring to hair-loss generally, I doubt this is a problem as I have ridiculously thick hair and seem to spend hours shaving, plucking or waxing the rest of me - it's just my bloody eyebrows that are sparse Grin

L’Oréal Brow Plumper is good and gives a natural look.

Pengweng · 04/02/2019 17:37

I use an eyebrow crayon from lush. It's so easy to use and takes me 30 secs to do my eyebrows.

Lelivre · 04/02/2019 17:47

I quite like the maybeline tattoo brow stuff that you paint on and allow to dry; then peel off. It is meant to stay a couple of days (it leaves a soft stain behind) but it doesn’t for me as I use an acid toner. I also hear great things about the NYX micro brow pencil.
