I’ve tried Eucerin with urea, but it isn’t enough. Plus it smells horrible.

Can anyone recommend something? Not expensive!

My dry skin loves Astral. You can get it in Boots, Superdrug or any big supermarket. Its lovely and rich and smells gorgeous

dinkydolphin · 01/02/2019 08:35

Nivea in the blue tub. You can get it anywhere! Slather it on at night and I swear you'll never look back. I think it's £3 in Tesco for a massive tub but you can get it for a £1 in other places too.

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 01/02/2019 08:39

I use Nivea but it’s not brilliant. It still feels dry after using it even if l ladle it on.

I use dr organic hemp 24 hour rescue from Holland and Barrett. I layer some of the rose oil serum under it, then the hemp cream, and if really dry a thin layer of Vaseline to "seal it in".

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 01/02/2019 08:48

What’s rose oil serum?

Is astral thicker than Nivea?

I've always used Aveeno when my face gets really dry. You can use something like Vaseline or epaderm on top at night as well.

CallMeSirShotsFired · 01/02/2019 09:27

I use cocoa butter. And/or almond oil (you can cleanse with it as well as just massage it in).

Caveat: only at night time, when you can really slather it on too greasy for day/putting makeup over.

MaudebeGonne · 01/02/2019 09:30

I use Le Roche Posey Tolieriene Riche as I have super dry, super sensitive skin and it is only thing that doesn’t make me want to claw my face off. It’s about £16 a tube, which lasts about 6 weeks.

greenelephantscarf · 01/02/2019 09:32

weleda skin food.
similar consistency to nivea blue tub but oilier.

user1539506092 · 01/02/2019 09:33

I second Astral, I can't get it anymore where I now live. But maybe a serum? Love Soap & Glory's but currently use rosehip oil serum (can't get S&G either!)

Lottapianos · 01/02/2019 09:37

Astral is not as thick as Nivea, so much more easily absorbed and less greasy

NoNameNoGame · 01/02/2019 09:39

Use a face scrub in your face dry to really get rid of your dry and dead skin cells by massaging into your face for a few minutes, then slowly add water to it to rinse off. Then lather on face oil followed by moisturiser.

fleuriepeninsula · 01/02/2019 09:46

I have to layer different types of moisturiser to get relief.

Hyaluronic acid serum on damp to wet skin
Few dabs of squalane oil
Cetaphil or Cerave moisturiser
Weleda skin food to lock it all in

All readily available on Amazon.

I get red itchy bumps if I let my skin get too dried out.

violeticecream · 01/02/2019 09:47

I get dry skin especially around nose and forehead. By far the best cream I have used is allergenics. You can get it in Holland and Barrett and on amazon. It's about a fiver. It is the only one that stop the dry skin for me and I have tried loads. I also exfoliate a couple of times a week when I remember!

Chickenvindasaag · 01/02/2019 09:52

Nivea in the dark blue, not the light blue/ while tubs is pretty much the heaviest thing out there. If that's not working then vaseline is the next option.
Ultrabland as a cleanser is good. If too expensive get a cheap coconut oil massage in then wipe off with a hot flannel

Synecdoche · 01/02/2019 09:52

Hemp face cream from the body shop is the best one - of maaany - I've tried.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 01/02/2019 09:53

I use Hada Labo Premium Lotion under my usual moisturiser.

It’s available on Amazon, and it lasts at least 6 months.

Osquito · 01/02/2019 09:58

Have you tried layering with face oil or serum before moisturising? Any vitamin-e type, especially rosehip (from The Ordinary, boots Botanics, any health & wellbeing store) but also The Body Shop’s Oils of Life... Put just a drop or two on fingertips and rub together, then press (rather than wipe/spread) it into exfoliated skin. Or try using a sleep mask to preempt the morning struggle.

Moisturiser-wise I have had great success with the french fave Embryolisse Lait (bought it online) and DP’s Bulldog anti-aging lotion. Just don’t buy the latter at full price, there’s usually an offer at Boots or
Tesco for it.

Fozzleyplum · 01/02/2019 10:00

Another vote here for Weleda skin food.

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 01/02/2019 10:01

I haven’t tried layering. I didn’t know it was a thing,

Can you recommend one? Will try almond oil too as love the small! With bsdrline on top. Although that smells too

Have you tried Diprobase? It’s not too heavy and it soaks in really well.

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 01/02/2019 11:26

I use Balneum cream from a derm all over. Haven’t heard of diprobase

You can get it on prescription or just buy it from the chemist. Might be worth a try.
