Please share with me your best high street beauty buys. I feel like treating myself but have a small budget. Would love make up and skin care products ideally all under a fiver so I can get a few! Thank you

Superdrug vitamin E cleanser .
Also pure radiance serums😀

The Superdrug radiance hot cloth cleanser is lovely, and I have been using Rimmel’s soft kohl/kajal eyeliner for more years than I like to remember!

Some of the Primark lipsticks and nail varnish are very good - I was totally surprised at how good they are. I use a mixture of high end and high street make up, and yet I seem to reach for the 90pence lipstick from Primark everyday! The varnish is very good, lasts longer than my OPI.

Revolution make up have some good palettes. Might be slightly more than a fiver but they do a good set of blushers which would give you a selection. They also do some good highlighting products, some of which are a bit bling but there are some more subtle offerings. Boots Natural Collection has some really good blushes. I like Bourjois Radiance Reveal concealer or a Maybelline one. I have an expensive, much lauded Charlotte Tilbury one and I much prefer the cheaper Bourjois/Maybelline one.

When I am economising I use Nivea Soft as a face moisturiser and body lotion. It simplifies your life no end. Always on offer somewhere available in a big tub, smaller tub and a tube. Head and Shoulders do good shampoos and conditioners. (I used before Claudia advertised them and used them to make my hair shine rather than for dandruff.) Anne French cleanser is old school cleanser, but boy does it shift grime. And is cheap, try Savers. I use Decleor cleansers for the sensory pleasure (smell nice) when flush, but revert to AF when penny watching.

I also like the NSpa skincare range from Asda. They are often on offer. Particularly like the detox face scrub and the stuff that you put on to perk up your skin under makeup, or you can wear on its own.

There are no end of good products in the High Street that do the job over much expensive competitors.

Good old pot of Carmex for dry lips. Also useful to slightly change the colour and texture of a lip colour.

Barry M Metallics eye liner . I have brown eyes , the dark grey and the purple look amazing .

Revolution (Superdrug) eyeliner pen (looks quite swish, the case is bronze) for 'tightlining'

M&S own brands are pretty good

I use Superdrug Optimum skincare (its not under £5 though , more £10-£14 , but it's often on BOGOF and I'm 52 so my skin is a bit more aged )

And try Aldi - they do some good 'dupes'
I bought some very similar to Pixi-Glow , a Charcoal Misceller water and some face mask for DD very similar to the Pink Clay one that she really likes (and she's very much a 'brand' fan)

MissMarplesKnitting · 01/02/2019 08:27

Revolution have just started doing The Ordinary style molecules etc too at competitive prices.

I love the superdrug hot cloth cleanser BUT....I've just switched to face halo. Amazing. No creams required. Ok you need a face wash but those can be sought very cheaply band my face loves the reduction in chemicals.

I've the ordinary NMF for moisturiser, it is brilliant. £6 a big tube.

Make up wise the Essence range in Wilko is great apart from the mascara which I found a bit flaky/crumbly.

GetOffTheTableMabel · 01/02/2019 08:30

The Superdrug B. range is very good and there’s 50% off right now.
The bi-phase ‘stubborn’ eye makeup remover is as good as many similar premium brands. I don’t bother buying any other kind now.

Flightywoman · 01/02/2019 09:16

Asda liquid eyeliner is brilliant- nice felt-tip, good colour intensity and really cheap - under £3 as far as I remember!

Nivea bi-phase eye makeup remover is very effective and cheap - £3 ish. It's as good as a (now discon'd) La Prairie one which was £70+ Shock

MissBehaving1000 · 01/02/2019 12:36

St Moritz fake tan.

Having heard and read good reviews about the product I decided to give it a go just before Christmas.

OMG I wish I'd tried it years ago! £2.99 a bottle versus the usual £20 I was paying for st tropez! Shock

Plus I think it's better in that it fades more evenly so I'm definitely converted!

Richlyfruited · 01/02/2019 15:39

Have you tried B&M or Poundland - you can find some great high street brands in there if you're lucky.

I like buying small samples of high end products from Ebay. A lot of people flog the beauty calendar stuff they don't want for a couple of quid which is great!

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 01/02/2019 15:45

Revolution concealer. Amazing coverage on my under eye circles without looking cakey or dry.

I am a huge fan of Nivea Soft. I use it as night cream mostly but it's useful for travelling as it doubles up as hand and body cream.

It's not much of a treat product but I also really rate the Tesco Essential hair gel which is about 45p a tub! Give great hold on my curly hair.

mycatplotsdeath · 01/02/2019 15:56

Rommel lipstick/ Nail varnish
