Beauty budget!

How much do you budget for beauty each month?
I'm trying to reign it in but currently spend about £100 a month for nails, hair, cosmetics/makeup/toiletries, hair removal and eyebrow waxing (it's been more in the past but it's also been less)
Any budget beauty tips greatly appreciated too Smile

Not sure as am just starting to use things again after a few years of not. Probably too much!

If you post a list of what you do/spend on, people can maybe suggest cheaper options?

£5 eyebrow wax per month
£60 nails per month (2 sets of gels)
£5 Hair products
£5 Razors and hair removal cream
£2 Hint of tan
£5 Skin care (face wash, face packs, moisturiser with SPF night cream, eye cream)
£7 Makeup (or £14 every 2 months)
£11 ish Towards hair cuts (£34 per quarter)

= £100

I used to spend this plus eyelash extensions, more on tanning, hair colour every 6 weeks (£60-£80 a go), more on makeup, a perfume every couple of months, and generally more on everything (more expensive skin care, hair products, razors etc.)
I also used to get pedicures which I've stopped

So I feel like I'm being good but it's still a lot
And I feel unglamorous and ugly most of the time

I wouldn't do my nails if I couldn't afford to. That's a big expense.

Didiusfalco · 30/01/2019 15:02

It’s the nails that are bumping up the cost. Could you find a mobile nail technician cheaper? You don’t have any costs down for hair cut/colour?
My big expense is bath/shower products, im so easily drawn in by new ones!

Bumblebee39 · 30/01/2019 15:55

Yes I do, £11 per month towards my hair cut- £34 per quarter get it done 4x a year (no colour)
Nails are half the price they used to be and getting them done less frequently it is expensive but normal polish chips straight away and I would need the upfront costs for gel colour, drier etc. And then might be rubbish at them
I should probably give the nails up but there the last bit of glam!

@Didiusfalco

I buy fairly expensive products but only when they're on offer and don't use much so they do last
I try not to be suckered in by new things though, but am finding I can't "get away" with cheaper products anymore

I'm going to be unhelpful and say that your haircut costs sound very reasonable then! Aside from the nails nothing seems particularly expensive. With regard to the nails I would just think: 'can I afford it, and is it worth it to me?' and if the answer was yes, I would just crack on with it! Smile

Bumblebee39 · 30/01/2019 16:11

@Didiusfalco I think it's the last bit of indulgence I have left and I fear otherwise I'd indulge somewhere else
Just seems like a lot of money all in but maybe most people just never write it out? And so live in denial!
I've been happily in denial in the past! But had to try and find somewhere to shave off some spending
