Are fringes in?

I have a recurrent debate with myself about wanting a fringe. Preferably a full one.

My hair is thick, straight-ish, currently just below shoulders and dark. I've had them before and they do suit me, but always separate or go a bit weird between washes etc...

Are they even an 'in' thing at the minute, or not at all??

Fringes are in at the moment and if you are certain your fave shape will suit one then go for it. As for separating it’s all in the blow dry. Keep it healthy and ask your stylist to show you how to blow dry it properly.

They’re not in (haven’t been since about 2010) but they don’t have to be in for you to have one.

Luckingfovely · 28/01/2019 19:14

As @Racecardriver says.... they are not 'in' in any way at the moment, but if they really suit you then do it anyway. You do you.

They come and go, but some people can pull them off really well, so if that's you, just go for it. I have one, it suits me because I have quite a high hairline and a fringe stops me looking too much like the Tefal bloke.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 28/01/2019 19:46

People are hardly going to point and laugh if you have a fringe without Instagram's permission!

I always have a fringe because I look loads better with one. Besides, if it's good enough for Florence Welch...

Fringes are always in. Perhaps your question should have been are they more in than normal.

Tootrousers · 28/01/2019 19:49

I don’t see fringes as either in or out, ever. Claudia winkleman has always had one, as have lots of people. If it suits you then go for it

I had a fringe cut in recently.

I like the change of look - was bored with my hair.

However it's more effort to keep to looking tidy especially when running/ gym.

I have a fringe. High hairline plus the only proper wrinkle I have is horizontal, halfway between my right eyebrow and hairline. I clearly do this Hmm too much, and the fringe hides it Grin

rainflowerstar · 28/01/2019 20:15

Go for it, you can always pin it back until it grows out if you don't like it.

XingMing · 28/01/2019 20:19

It's about what suits your face and hair best, after you pass the age of incredulity. There really aren't the same absolute rules about IN or OUT anymore. Of course, there's a general direction, but plenty of folk ignore it and look fabulously individual regardless.

LazyLemur · 28/01/2019 20:24

My fringe will be in as long as I have a foot long face... 😕

Pugwash1 · 28/01/2019 21:00

I have just ordered a clip in one from Amazon to try. It hasn't arrived yet and know I will need to get it trimmed to fit but wanted to try before I commit. Last had one years ago and wanted to see how it would look now I have got significantly older.
