Achieving smooth/sleek hair

My hair always looks as though it's never seen a brush the second I go out, very flyaway, very staticky

Additionally it gets really greasy if I over brush

If I have it up in a pony or a bun the hair on the scalp is never smooth and is always poking out every which way

It just always looks tatty and unkempt

I'm not sure if Frizz Ease is the right product because my hair is straight not curly.

How do you achieve the smooth, not a hair out of place look?

Do you use any product on your hair?

I would recommend a serum to use on your hair you can put it on wet hair. also a little hairspray for the flyaways, get a cheap toothbrush and keep it just to use for hairspray. A little hair spray on it and it should do the trick as opposed to spray direct to the hair. I always find I spray too much straight to the hair.

Try another shampoo and conditioner, sometimes they just aren’t right for our hair. I use Philip Kingsley which I love.

My niece has lovely, long, straight hair, but it gets incredibly knotted. I bought her an argan oil spray from Superdrug, I didn’t want to spend much incase she didn’t use it, but she did and her hair looked gorgeous. So smooth and also shiny. I’ll pop the link for you to have a look, there will be better quality products out there but may point you in the right direction, and a good place to start.

The problem that I have is naturally greasy hair and my hair reacts badly to oily products - so if I wash with an Argan Oil Shampoo it's greasy within two days

The best shampoo I've used is out of my budget (Bumble)

My fear with using serums is the grease element

The only products I regularly use are an Elvive detangler and Batiste I put hairspray in if I've curled it

Do you have a double crown? I ask because all my family have one and hair never lies flat.

Ooo I don't know?!

How would I know?!

Oh I see! I used to be like that with oils too, my hair is now more drier so can get away with them.

I have used this product which is also good. It is a little more pricy but you don’t need that much.

You can train your hair to become less greasy. I will attach a link of a ladies Instagram who talks about it. She’s a hairdresser and offers good advice. I know she did mention in the comments dry shampoo can cause product build up on the scalp, which in turn can make hair more greasy. It would be good if you can to get a clarifying scalp product (shampoo, etc) to use around once a month.

Generally to get sleek hair there’s an element of using some product. You may get on better by doing a weekly hair mask instead. Also forgot to mention that over brushing can cause flyaways especially a brush with plastic, you could try a natural bristle brush instead (hence toothbrush tip)

That Percy and Reed is a great suggestion thank you

Put oil and conditioner only from mid ears down. Also use an SLS free shampoo there's one called Elvive Low that i find good between £5-7 in Tesco.
