Spring work wardrobe - not suits

SlinkyDinkyDoo · 26/01/2019 18:16

Is anyone thinking ahead to Spring with regards to work wardrobe? Looking for inspiration for smart but need not be suits, nice seperates fine and preferable.

All my stuff is looking rather tired, haven't bought anything for a really long time bar the odd top/tights.

Anyone bought or got their eye on anything? Where are you shopping for good quality clothes mid range budget (more Jisaw than Margaret Howell alas)

I like Hobbs for workwear - in the sale. I also have good cheaper clothes for work from H and M and Mango

Thanks trader I never really think of hobbs. H&M isn't really cut for me as I'm an hourglass and not slim.

I like cos for casual and jigsaw. Bith perfectly acceptable for work. I'm after outfit ideas, what seperates work together based on what's currently around and colour combinations for the new season. Booooored of black/grey/white. Want a bit of colour, possibly a subtle print.

I have H&M trousers and am a pear, they are a lovely fit. I also like warehouse for blouses that look more expensive than they are.

A tunic over wide leg trousers. Add a long necklaces.
Comfort le but really chic.
Throw on a long cardigan.
Or.
A longer tunic with high boots.

I just can't do tunics as that was all I wore for about 4 years post pregnancy!

The Pretty Dress Company has some dresses that would really suit your figure.

Look at some blogs. MidlifeChic is an hourglass and works so does feature her work wardrobe a lot. Very classic dresser but WFH a lot so a lot of smart casual stuff. LifetoStyle also works but her blog covers her casual wardrobe more.

these are the ones I have, really good quality and fit

I'm also a larger hourglass, and my work wardrobe is pretty much all dresses.

How smart do you need to go? I have a few dresses from Hobbs, Phase Eight, a couple from diva catwalk (online only), LK Bennett, French Connection, Ted Baker. Recently got a couple of lovely shirt dresses from Oasis including an emerald green skater style one - it has a belt so works very well for hourglass. Anthropology have some nice wrap style dresses in their sale which were also super flattering on.

I picked up a nice pair of navy cigarette cut trousers from Next last week. They are so comfy and we're only about £30. They look nice with little heels and a couple of Hobbs blouses I have. And I also have done ankle grazer patterned trousers from Boden which are nice with a black sweater. I'll also wear them with Boden ravello tops in the summer. Apart from that, I mostly just wear boring old Boden dresses ( plain) with tights ( I favour a quirky colour) and navy or black flats. I'd like to get into blazers, but I just can't find them comfy, they remind me of school!

Long or three quarter sleeve dresses from the concessions in House of Fraser or Debenhams. Plenty of variety and styles. They go well with tights/stockings and, when it gets warmer, bare legs.
