I was so sad to read about it. Why did no one help him? It was so obvious he was a troubled soul who'd been through a hell of a time. Sad

I really hope Estée Lauder don’t ruin the brand he’s created. Would be such a shame :-(

That's so sad, poor guy. TO really shook up the beauty industry, he was a real innovator

HowlsMovingBungalow · 22/01/2019 12:06

He was quite brilliant but sadly fucked on drugs/booze and mixed with some sort of paranoia.
His Instagram decline was absolutely shocking.

Poor Guy

EL have been at the helm for months now with no discernible changes. I think it’s a model that works and so they are unlikely to muck about with it for now. Maybe when the trend for apothecary style single ingredient beauty fades they’ll shake it up but for now, it is a money spinner.

It is sad news about Brandon Truaxe. His issues played out very publicly and it’s a shame it ended like this. Those saying ‘why didn’t anyone help him?!’. Well, sometimes it’s difficult, if a person’s delusions and addictions are such that they are convinced that they aren’t ill, they don’t require help and that any outside interventions are intended to harm rather than assist, then it can be really difficult, if not impossible to help. You can offer it, you can’t force it.

Estée Lauder is a minority investor (c30% I believe) and had to use Canadian "interference with business" laws to remove Brandon as CEO (ie they couldn't do it worth their shareholder votes or rights).

He was still the majority shareholder. The interesting thing now will be what happens to his shares (ie who gets them) and whether that triggers a right for EL to buy out those shares and effectively take control.

However it plays out, it is terribly sad way for things to end for Brandon Sad
