Squalane oil - have you tried it?

I'd never heard of this before, but just read about it in an article in one of Sunday papers on-line. So, I've just ordered some - it sounds very good. Does anyone use it and what's your experience?

I use The Ordinary squalane (the only product of theirs that I still use), I might try a different one if it ever needs replacing! A bottle lasts an age because I only use a few drops at a time. I find it nicely moisturising without any greasiness. I also put a couple of drops on my lips last thing at night, and let it soak in before applying lip balm (nuxe reve de miel is my favourite), and I wake up with lovely soft lips, that feel sort of plumped up a bit. I've used it as a sort of hair serum when I've run out. Gave my DD a little scalp massage with a few drops when she had a little bit of flaky scalp, left it for an hour or so before she washed it off and no flakiness since. It's quite useful stuff.

I have mostly normal/combo skin these days but it used to be very, very oily. Squalane is still the only oil I can use without it clogging up my skin, causing spots or making me super greasy looking.

Wow - thanks Floofy. Great to know that it's got so many different uses. My skin's dry and I already use other oils, rosehip, etc. but looking forward to trying squalene. I like the lips idea, got terrible lips at the moment due to a cold, so I'll definitely be trying that at bedtime.

Squalene oil is the substance produced by your skin, that gathers in the fold at the side of your nose, isn't it? Watchmakers rub their noses then the mechanics of a watch to make it run smoothly, I read somewhere once.

I use The Ordinary Retinoid in Squalane and really like it. It does the job of a moisturiser without feeling like one. My skin reacts to all sorts but I've never had a problem with this.

Face theory do one, Floofy.

Yes, The Ordinary, it gave me break outs Sad. Binned it in the end. But I do have very reactive skin.

How interesting, Gretchen, I did a quick google and apparently the plot of a Jack Reacher novel involves this - fascinating fact - thank you!!
I guess the closer to nature something is, the better - as someone who reacts badly to so many products, this can only be a good thing!
