Where to buy nice jeans at size 16/18?

I’m looking for decent jeans that look stylish and will keep their shape & look good as they age. I’m 36, size 16/18 hourglass shape and 5’10.

I bought some jeans from M&S last year, they were great at first but after 6 months they had completely lost their shape. I’m happy to spend more on a decent pair but I find jeans shopping so dispiriting, it would be good to have an idea of where to look!

It may sound odd, but Sainsburys jeans are my go to ones.

They may not be stylish enough for you, but I like them because they are not low rise, and you can get extra long, and they maintain their shape well.
I am similar shape and height to you, but a size larger.

Thank you! I’ll check out Sainsburys

I'm the same size and age as you but a couple of inches shorter. The absolute best jeans I have are Levi's that were bought abroad (but apparently available here). They measured me in inches rather than getting a specific 16 or 18 size. They're very comfy and so far are still whole on the inner thighs and aren't showing signs of rubbing through.

I like Dorothy Perkins jeans.

Same issue here but a size up. I've just been to the US and came home with 2 pairs of Levi jeans ...

Sainsbury's 4 way stretch ones are good

ChiaraMontague · 20/01/2019 00:43

Levi’s look like a great shout! I’ve just been browsing their website for the last 30 mins, I didn’t realise that they had so much choice and that they offer a tailoring service.

I work quite close to their big store on Regent Street so I will pop in there for an epic trying on session.

I don’t know why I didn’t think of Levi’s before, I used to wear them when I was in my late teens / early 20s (and a lot slimmer than now).

I’m still searching! I’ve got an appointment at John Lewis next week for their “Perfect Jeans” service so hoping to try some Levis and other brands then. When I booked they said no purchase necessary, and I love the idea of someone else doing all the hard work of running around for different sizes, styles and brands.

Has anyone tried Good American jeans? They are £££s but I’ve seen such good reviews of their plus sizes. Also on their website you can see the jeans on a Size 0, Size 8 and Size 16 model so I get a better idea of what they’d look like on me.

Tbh I find m&s ones good...if worn a lot, maybe six months is all you can expect? I've got older ones from there had are still in great shape, do you wash them heavily?

Neverunderfed · 27/01/2019 21:15

I really like the next 360 degree stretch ones for skinny fit, they're so comfy and really last

Frouby · 27/01/2019 21:18

I came on to say the next 360 fit, have loads of skinny jeans from loads of places but these are my favourite by far.

I buy Crew long, which they do in black or denim. They fit really well. They are supposed to be straight, but are more skinny really.

ChiaraMontague · 31/01/2019 19:07

Thanks for all the suggestions. I’ve tried on A LOT of jeans since I started this thread!

I have yet to try Levi and Good American but so far the best looking ones (for my shape and size) have been the own label ones from John Lewis in a skinny fit. They are £59 so I’m going to look around other brands before buying.
