Lucky beauty haul - what and how to use

I was the extremely lucky recipient of a lovely box of a range of beauty products recently. I have been a total slattern but I have turned 40 recently and feel I should maybe look after my skin a little better.

My face isn’t really very lined or wrinkled. It is definitely a little saggier than it used to be though. I would say it is combination and I have sebacious filaments on my nose and chin.

The box contained amongst other things:

Dr sebagh serum repair
Darphin hydraskin light
Nip and fab glycolic cleansing pads
Dermawell hyaluronic acid gel
Dermawell anti-aging intense moisturiser
Kiehls facial cream

I have just run out of my Liz Earle hot cloth cleanser so will be on the look out for a new cleanser this weekend.

So which products would people most rate for my skin?

Some are obvious what their function is. Others I am not sure. The acid gel and serum repair for example.

What order should I do things and when?

Which cleanser should I look at getting which might complement something here?

I won’t even become a Korean skincare Princess so I can’t cope with anything too involved. Cleanse, tone and moisturise with occasional extra sounds perfect though.

Any comments or thoughts greatly appreciated

Personally I’ve used the kiehls cream and dr sebagh, both are really good! I clean my face first and then use the serum. I let the serum sink in whilst doing other things and then use the moisturiser. If you are wearing make up make sure you let your moisturiser sink in before applying.
A good replacement for your hot cloth is the Superdrug vit e range. They have a hot cloth cleanser that is very similar.

Thank you sausage.

I have been playing around a bit and have tried the Dr Sebagh serum. I use it at night after cleansing. Do I use an acid toner then it or just it? I wondered if it was a bit sticky to use with make up Hence using it at night.

I haven’t tried the Kiehl’s yet so good to know it’s good.

I have heard many good things about the Superdrug hot cloth so I think I will just get that tomorrow rather than faff about with other stuff

Oh sausage. I meant to ask, and this is dead stupid. What effect is the Dr Sebagh supposed to have? What am I looking for it to do?

I haven’t used an acid toner so not sure how you would fit that in. Hopefully someone else might be along with some advice, if not if you are on Facebook there are lots of good skincare groups to ask in. I like the nadine baggot group.

You can use the serum morning and night, make up is fine to use once you’ve given it time to settle in to your skin. You should notice your skin looking and feeling smoother, wrinkles (if you have them!) less pronounced and hopefully your skin looking more hydrated. It is a good serum but is quite expensive. You are very lucky, enjoy!

I am so lucky sausage. I was expecting a wee Jiffy bag of little samples and got a big box of full size things.

Thanks for your help with the toner.

Lucky lady! Those products all sound great!

Over the last couple of months I've been using an oil cleanser. I massage it in, then add some warm water, which turns the cleanser milky, then I rinse it off. About twice a week, I use an exfoliator. I then use a hyaluronic acid serum, allow it to sink in, then finish off with an anti aging eye cream and moisturiser. My skin feels so much more hydrated and is much softer now. I also think my skin looks much less saggy in the jowl area. I'm in my late 40s.

Maybe you could use the products you've been given to come up with a routine to suit you.
