Help me find a coat like this, please

I am looking for a particular style of winter coat, but I can't seem to find any for less than £400! I'm sure they must exist, somewhere.

Here's a picture of what I'm looking for.

I want it to be:
very long, at least mid-calf length, preferably longer
very warm, a proper winter coat
padded

I don't want a really dressy coat, just an everyday one. And preferably something water resistant, not wool. Any colour. Synthetic or natural.

I don't care about brands. I don't want to pay more than £150 (I mean, I'd really rather pay a lot less than that, but realistically I think I might not get a decent quality one for much less).

Does anyone have any ideas where I might find something like that, please?

Uniqlo' ultralight down really isnt terribly warm or overly waterproof. I'd compare it to a warm fleece, Great in summer or autumn good as a mid layer in winter. Handy to keep in the car if you get caught short

I have one very similar from Lands End. Very warm and much cheaper

Cherries101 · 18/01/2019 13:04

Superdry have one that’s almost the same but warmer.

Pythone · 18/01/2019 13:11

How about this? I haven't bought one this year, but have had a couple of down coats from Esprit that have been very warm.

I was going to say uniqlo too. They are really warm.

verite · 18/01/2019 14:14

Uniqlo had one really similar to the Canada goose one in stores recently (with fur hood etc). It felt v warm - actually too warm for what I wanted. I can never work out on their website which coat is which. If you go to one of their flagship stores they have loads of different types.

It was then in the sale let me see if I can find it
It's so warm
Warmer then my moncler

Lands End are definitely warmer and more weatherproof than Uniqlo. I have both, the Landsend one copes with much colder weather . If you also look on the US Landsend site ( landsend.com) they usually give a guide as to what temperatures the coats will cope with. You can they buy the same coat from the UK site, if they have it .

Fink · 18/01/2019 16:59

That Lands' End one looks perfect, it's a shame they only have it in petite! I'm looking at the US Lands' End site now, it looks like you can buy direct from there.

Thanks everyone, you're amazing.

Lands End have 30% off today with JANUALL. Have a good look, they have several similar styles.

BikeRunSki · 18/01/2019 17:07

lands End reguar size, similar coat

Potplant2 · 18/01/2019 18:28

I agree that Uniqlo ultralight isn’t very warm. I have a jacket that I use as a mid layer for extra warmth and it is about the warmth of wearing a fleece, as someone said. I had a long coat but it really wasn’t warm enough so I sold it. Definitely lands end of the two.

SirVixofVixHall · 18/01/2019 18:33

When I posted the link they had the regular in several sizes, worth calling them, and keeping an eye out for returns. I imagine stock is shifting quickly as it is in the sale.

IHaveBrilloHair · 18/01/2019 18:36

I've got one like that from Superdry, £50 in the sale.
It's like wearing a duvet, I love it.

SirVixofVixHall · 18/01/2019 18:36

They do have the grey in regular.

SirVixofVixHall · 18/01/2019 18:39

I buy things for my dds from the US site as they do slim fit swimwear which is v helpful for skinnies. Be warned that you usually have to pay duty on the parcel, which can bump up the price a lot and which makes it difficult to return things. I only buy if I am pretty certain that something will fit.

Fink · 18/01/2019 22:50

Thanks. I bought from the US site in the end. I didn't see anything quite right on the UK site. We've got the Uniqlo one belonging to someone else in the house so I tried it on and it wasn't as long as I wanted and, although I tried it on indoors, I wasn't convinced it would be warm enough.

I read all the measurements very carefully and measured myself and my old coat (which I love but has reached ridiculous levels of tattiness) so I'm reasonably confident it will fit. It was in the sale, but I forgot that US shops don't include VAT in the price so that was added on at checkout, annoyingly. Never mind, all done now. And I'm hopefully going to be in possession of a new coat! Thanks again for all the advice.
