Comfortable bra for daughter with sensory issues

Posting here for traffic. My dd 14 has SCD, is on the autistic scale and has sensory issues. She hates wearing bras, I have bought her those little crop top bralette things and whilst she tolerates them a bit more she still takes them off at the earliest opportunity. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Sloggi Zero Feel are expensive but feel like nothing on. Currently on sale:

I've just discovered the M&S Sumptuously Soft non-wired bras. They are really soft, including the straps. And there's no underwire so no potential for wires to dig in. I would recommend giving them a go. At 32B I would be tempted to not bother with a bra at all. Maybe just a soft bralette and then a sports bra for PE.

Maybe also try going up a back size. I know that the general rule is that the back should be tight and that bras don't support you properly if the back is too loose but if she has sensory issues and the tightness is bothering her then it might be worth trying sizing up. If she's a 32B it shouldn't be a problem in terms of really needing the support of a tighter band. The support won't be as good but at least she'll feel comfortable.

Dd2 had issues with bras as a teenager BHS had brilliant bras they were not rigid we hunted for new ones when it closed Angel collection at M&S and Debenhams do soft no underwire bras that suited her.

Placemarking as having the same issue with dd, she’s younger but is developing. She hasn’t been confirmed asd but I suspect it may be dx when we see CAHMS. Main thing is sensory issues.

She refused to even try on crop tops never mind bras, and now bog standard vests drive her crazy so she doesn’t wear those. Not an issue except for getting changed for PE as she’s very conscious of the fact she’s the only one in her class with breasts.

The most comfortable ones I’ve found have been Zero feel bras. Because they have no catches, rough bits, tags or stitching. There the only bras I don’t feel the need to remove straight away when I get home.

Look into Molke Bras. They are the most comfortable thing ever, soft and supportive. If you join Boob or Bust Measuring Advice on Facebook you will get more ideas but that's where I learnt about these.

My daughter is very similar but is quite sporty so needs to wear something to keep them in place. She’s 11 and a 34C.

This is the only one that she will wear as the straps are thicker than a bra and it’s got a soft wide band that doesn’t rise up when she jumps about.

I wear these and they are really soft and comfy.

Alhough I am only a 34C, the medium felt a bit too constricting but the large is great.
The padded inserts are removable
They are also cheap so no great loss if she doesn't like them

I know M&S get a bashing on bra threads but they do a non-wired "supersoft lounge bra" which sounds like it would be perfect for your DD. Hardly feel like you're wearing anything.

Hiphopopotamous · 18/01/2019 21:36

Tried to link and they've stopped making it! Argh. Lots of non-wired choices though.
