Thin, fine, brittle, non-porous hair: help!

Is there anything I can do to not look rubbish? It has a slight wave so can be scrunched summer to look wavy, but very hit and miss and never works unless air dried so no good in winter. Frizzy, curly bits mess it up when I try to style it it straight...

I work outdoors so tend to just put it up as fed up with it.

Recommendations for shampoo/conditioner? Is there a bar that works rather than a bottle? Currently trying Lush Jason and the carbon oil but it's making it lane yet dry at the ends.

Help!

Good OP. I was looking for solutions but there aren't any yet.
I recommend finding a good haircutter. Find someone who will give you a cut that suits your hair. This way your hair will always behave.
Try conditioning just the ends.
If you are using a pony tail band use a non snagging one.

Thanks for the reply. My hair is too fine for a pony tail, so it goes up in a clip. A chin-length Bob looks best if I have time to dry it straight but I look like a mushroom if it frizzes up so tend to have it a bit longer, shoulder length, so I can put it up. Really fed with it!

I have really, really thin hair. I use Aveda Pure Abundance shampoo, it's expensive but I need to use much less than supermarket shampoo so it works out about the same price. I buy it a litre at a time online, that lasts me a year or so of washing my hair daily. I recommend Aussie conditioner, especially the volumising ones and two or three times a week I use Phytoelixir, again it's expensive but a small amount goes a long way.

Nothing will make my hair look great, but I know from trial and error that this is the most manageable it'll probably ever be.

Shea Moisture have a low porosity range with no protein. I've just started using the conditioner but it's too soon to tell if it's made a long lasting difference. I'm impressed so far. Using heat whilst deep conditioning with a treatment seems to be the consensus for no porus hair.

Sitranced · 15/01/2019 18:30

Well that didn't work Hmm

I'd read that about heat, not sure how I'd implement that at home... thanks, I'll check out that range!

Straighten it and then dry shampoo for texture. It's a pita.

WithTwoGiantBoys · 16/01/2019 12:16

It doesn't stay straight though! Especially in weather like today.

Bloody hair.

Make sure you’re getting enough protein and iron too.
