Hair like straw

I've decided to grow my hair and on the whole am pleased with it.

But all of a sudden it has become as dry as straw and looks awful.

Im using Aveda Scalp Benefits shampoo and conditioner at the moment, but think my hair could do with something really intensive.

Any thoughts? I'm 55 btw.

Olaplex 2. Deep condition with it once a week, turned my hair around completely it’s like silk now

Thanks- I'll give it a go

I recently bought some Elvive Extraordinary Oil which has done lovely things to my straw like hair! I put it on wet before blow drying it and it’s lovely and silky.

@Inliverpool1 I’ve just googled that-it’s so expensive! How much do you get through? What’s in it?!

LuluBellaBlue · 15/01/2019 11:56

Warm coconut oil for an hour once a week Grin

I use Olaplex 3, it’s not cheap but it’s amazing.

Try and get your local salon to order you a bottle, I get it free if I buy the shampoo and conditioner, they are £50 for both.

I use a good dollop because I have long bleached blonde hair but it’s worth it. Olaplex 3 is the watered down version

I've grown my hair over the last couple of years, too, and have been surprised at how dry it gets. I've been using Philip Kingsley's Elasticizer and have found it really helps. I massage it into the ends of unwashed hair, stick on a shower cap and leave it on overnight, washing it off next morning.

@LuluBellaBlue

I use a smidgen after every wash, but a once a week jobbie sounds good. How much do you use, and how do you wrap it for that hour? Towel or plastic?

Do you swim? DD's hair turned into straw when she started up swimming twice a week due to the chlorine build up, Got her a clarifying/Chlorine shampoo and really made a difference.

Another for Elvive extrodinary oil
It turns my straw hair to a swingy shiny bob
£10 bottle but lasts for ages , small amount rubbed on hands then swept over towel dried hair ( not roots ) blow as normal
I love it and it is one if the few products I have repeatedly purchaed

BaeBae · 15/01/2019 22:41

Philip Kingsley The Elasticiser - expensive but is amazing.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 15/01/2019 22:43

I have the cheapest option.

Elvive low shampoo. It’s a cream, it does not foam but somehow cleans the hair and makes it soft again.

It comes in different formulations.
