Skin tag removals help!

Soontobe60 · 13/01/2019 23:28

I had some skin tags removed a long time ago in the NHS and now have more that need removing as they catch on my bra and are very unsightly. However, I can't now get them done on the NHS.
Where would be the best place to go?

I tie some cotton thread around mine and wait for them to dry up and fall off. Make sure the thread is clean.

I got some numbing cream from the chemist, numbed the tags and then cut them off with a razor blade. Put a plaster on for a few days - gone.

Flooffloof · 14/01/2019 05:26

I pay to have them burnt off.

Miltonkeynesmummy · 14/01/2019 05:26

I use vitamin e capsules. Pierce them and rub a little on each day. Mine usually disappear in a couple of weeks.

With a razor blade??. 😱😱😱
Where would I go to have them burned off?

I went to my local sk;in clinic, and they used the same cryo machines that GPs surgeries used to have. It took seconds. I have also had them tied off.

LaPampa · 14/01/2019 16:31

I’ve got one too which grew when I was pregnant and I hate it. GP won’t do anything as it is cosmetic. How tight do you have to tie the thread and does it hurt? Razor blade sounds too extreme for me!

You can buy kits on Amazon where the applicator puts a small elastic band type thing round them. which cuts off the blood supply, and then after a few days they turn black and drop off. Cost about £12 and doesn't grow back. Painless as well.

Reaa · 14/01/2019 16:43

I cut mine off with scissors, sterlized, sharp scissors.

Alienspaceship · 14/01/2019 17:53

Oh my word!!!! Just reading these responses! Shock

Bujo · 14/01/2019 17:54

I just snip mine off with nail Clippers and pop a plaster on.

MrJellyBean · 14/01/2019 18:07

You can buy patches that look like the coldsore ones, I'll see if I can link

Hmmm those patches are not exactly getting rave reviews. I'm pretty sure I saw some kits for sale in boots, like the ones Maxie described above. Behind the counter.

I have a couple on my eyelid. Not sure i want to take a razor to those!

Would that be one for the professionals?

BusterGonad · 15/01/2019 10:05

My husband had a tiny one on his eye lid, I put a bit of thread around it on a Friday evening and by Monday it was just about ready to drop off. So easy.

Lambbone · 15/01/2019 10:06

Ooh! Might be worth a try.

BusterGonad · 15/01/2019 10:56

Just make sure the cotton/thread is clean. It might sting a bit when the knot is tied but then it'll be fine.

Tea tree oil! I could hardly believe it myself.
Apply tea tree oil twice a day, takes about 2 -3weeks of consistency and they fall off.

SummerintoAutumn · 15/01/2019 11:09

Buy something called 'Tag Bands' from Amazon. I have used them on big and small tags (you get different sized bands).
Completely painless and works within a week at the most.
Wish I had found them years ago.

Wendy808 · 16/01/2019 11:13

I used a product I bought on Amazon called Cryotag, my skin tag (also on my bar-line) fell off after a week and you can't even see where it was. I used to go to a beauty clinic but it cost a fortune! Shock

ruby1234 · 16/01/2019 13:28

Dental floss is nice and clean and stays pulled tight when you knot it.

sonjadog · 16/01/2019 17:26

I twizzle them around as much as I can stand (it is quite painful when at maximum turn) and repeat a couple of time. That seems to cut off the blood supply and then they dry up and drop off a couple of days later.
