Dressing DH. Help!

Went shopping in Nottingham yesterday and it was stressful. Dh runs his own business and the dress code is smart casual. He is keen to dress better both in and out of work. We did all of the department stores and to be honest we were both pretty depressed. Not knowing what to look for etc. In the past he has liked rocher at Debenhams but that’s gone by the looks of things. Almost about to give up and I suggested Hugo boss. He liked the small shop, that he could ask for help, and we successfully found a treat pair of jeans and a couple of polo shirts. So mumsnetters, where should we be looking? What brands do you suggest? Please help!

Try Gant and Tommy Hilfiger.

Go to your nearest outlet village with a Paul Smith shop.

Also, Reiss men’s clothes are pretty good. Better than the women’s clothes.

Gant is a big tick! Th not, he doesn’t like obvious branding on his clothes

Try massimo dutti?

Explore style in shop such as H&M. They have a bit of everything. DS1 hates jeans and wears chinos. I buy them in several colours and combined with a shirt, they look nice.
Mango and zara are also a good place to start and less painful on the wallet.
Save the money for good shoes.

Timberland for chinos and oxford shirts.
Charles Tyrwhitt for merino jumpers
Moss Bros for blazers/smart jackets to dress up a more casual outfit.

Gant is a great suggestion, DH wears a lot from there.
He also likes the rugby style shirts from Debenhams.

Book him in with a personal stylist / shopper at e.g. a department store, M&S or John Lewis- they will sort him out with a new wardrobe!

I did this at Debenhams and the lady was fab, she picked loads of outfits I would never have chosen for myself and really seemed to understand what would suit my shape and colouring.

I’m a big fan of stylists, I’ve used one myself. It’s a dream to get him to see one haha. I actually think it’s the only way to go!! Men!!

Orvis wrinkle free shirts are a staple of my DH’S wardrobe.

Uniqlo men’s clothing is good, lots of unbranded basics.

messyhousetidymind · 13/01/2019 20:10

Great advice here but it made me smile that it's his company.

He could set the dress style as monty-don-in-the-garden or Edd-in-wheeler-dealers if he wanted to.

This is a joke btw I do realise he probably has clients and employees to impress
