Dubarry boots

I love the Glanmire and bought some a few weeks ago off their website. Ordered my usual size and just couldn't get them on, so sent them back and went up to a size 5. Nope. Still couldn't get them on; my foot was like something stuck in a U-bend, for I am slim of calf but high of instep ..
They have now gone back.

Are there any similar boots - hard wearing, warm, waterproof and stylish but with a zip? I mean, why don't they make them with a zip for goodness sake - is it because they cannot then be waterproof?

Anything other than Fly and Merrill I mean, I don't like them quite as much as Dubarry, but that sort of thing?

Dubarrys aren't made like they used to be I'm afraid, like everything else when it becomes popular they hike up the price and reduce the quality! I have worn Dubarys years but I won't touch them now. Try fairfax & favour very nice boots lots off different styles. I didn't own any myself but they are very popular at the equestrian events I attend.

I love my Dubarrys. I find the shorter lengths fit better. I have a pair of Roscommons and a pair of Kildares.

I'm in love with my Dubarrys!! I've had them for 7/8 years and I have literally worn them almost every day in all kinds of conditions with my three horses. They are still going strong.

Dubarrys can be a right pain in the arse to get on. I’ve got a pair of Galways that are about 15 years old and I still struggle to get them on because the ankle is narrow, that said, because the ankle is narrow they are very comfy once on.
They last for years as well, as I said, mine are 15 years old and have withstood 15 years of owning horses and using them as wellys. I don’t own rubber wellys. My boot care consists of walking through as much snow as I can find each year to clean them from the preceding 11 months of mud and horse crap!!

I totally agree with the earlier poster who said that the quality has declined. I think that they sold out about 7 years ago and that’s been their downhill. Such a shame.

WineNotTea · 12/01/2019 22:59

My first comment about them lasting well is about the original Irish produced boots, that said, I can’t personally comment on the newer ones, I’m just going by what my friends have said.

I have Le Chameau lady Jameson boots for walking the dogs. They have a zip and are so comfy.
