I have an interview next week - first for quite a while - what shall I wear?

I really want this job.

I would quite like to buy something new so I feel superconfident but have hardly any time to look around.

I have a very boring array of clothes I wear to work - wide legged trousers and smartish tops with ballet shoes mainly, or slightly flared knee skirts. Never wear suits but perhaps I should for an interview?

The job is in a creative organisation - it's not formal like banking etc.

If it's creative you probably don't need a formal suit. I sat in on interviews at my job recently (on the smart-casual end of the spectrum), no-one wore suits but the 2 candidates who looked the best both had a good haircut, and wore [a] a cardigan and puff-ball skirt outfit in black [b] a dark linen dress plus co-ordinating but not matching jacket in beige linen that matched.

Sorry, last sentence made no sense - i.e. it wasn't a 'suit' in the strict sense of the word and the colours went together without being identical!

wear what ever makes you feel comfortable.
Try and find something without food/sick/felt tip on it.
if you are still breasfeeding try to avoid leakage.
I think people make too much fuss about what to wear to an interview.
If you've got the right qualifications, a decent reference and are basically an ok person, that does tend to help.

I only notice what someone is wearing if it is totally hideous or incredibly inappropriate - hotpants on a fuller figure in Jan etc

Mslucy, agreed... but the person who made the worst 'impression' on the day was the worst dressed (i.e. she looked like she'd popped out to the shops). People are very superficial...

How about a new suit jacket to wear with your trousers you already have?

You need to feel good about yourself, so wear something smart-ish but most importantly, comfortable. As long as you look clean, neutral and neat I don't think it matters too much.
