Hair frizz in damp weather

Ok, so hair straightened and shiny and sleek and I leave the house. I enter work with a complete frizz ball of hair. I have wavy hair but when it’s damp outside, no waves just frizz. Any tips on stopping this happening in damp weather? Thanks

Not very helpful but I wear a hat, shove all my hair under it then it's still straight when I take the hat off. I have curly/frizzy hair too and totally feel your pain

Mixedbags · 11/01/2019 12:23

I hear you. The hat brigade it is then! 💂‍♀️👩🏻‍🌾

How do you stop the hat making your hair flat?

RomanyRoots · 11/01/2019 12:32

If you straighten curly/wavy hair you can't stop it.
You could use lots of products to keep it wavy and then it doesn't frizz, but straightening it will always have the same result.
I use curl cream, custard, leave in conditioners from CANTU, no frizz just perfectly defined curls with no frizz.

I have keratin straightening a couple of times a year. Expensive but worth it.

Sugarhunnyicedtea · 11/01/2019 12:57

12fromcold I almost pile my hair on top of my head so it's not flat when I take the hat off but, to be honest, I'd rather have flat hair than frizzy hair anyway 😁

I live in the SW, terrible climate for frizz!

I’ve found a light serum worked into hair after washing, followed by straightening when no more than 80% dry, works best for me. I agree though your best defence is a hat!

IDECLAREBANKRUPTCY · 11/01/2019 13:05

I wish I could solve this!

Keratin straightening didn't work for me. Leave in conditioner makes my hair soft but that's it.

Hoods and hats are your friend here.

Elnett flexible hold hairspray does a pretty good job when I straighten my DD's very curly hair - a good spritz and make sure it's complete set before leaving the house.

Also cooling the hair down with a hairdryer directly after straightening makes a difference.

Forgot this, definitely ‘set’ the hair with a cool blast.

What products do you use?

Mixedbags · 11/01/2019 19:01

Thanks for the replies. I use frizz ease. The cold air hairdryer blast I shall try. I have used hairspray but it doesn’t seem to work. I could cope with nice defined waves but it’s the frizz that looks awful. I arrive at work with my hair looking like I have just been jumping through hedges on my way!

Elnett (sp?) hairspray brilliant. DD and I both use.
It does really help.

It was recommended to me by hairdresser to tie hair back with a soft band and tuck in coat and wear hood.

It is so superficial but it does make me feel so much better without the frizz!!

I’m trying Redken frizz dismiss at the moment and like it. I also quite liked TiGi control freak when using straighteners. But the weather...it’s still a problem and using the hat and scarf is something I also do.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 11/01/2019 20:10

I use Moroccan Oil or a light serum when wet. Nothing too claggy, just enough to seal the surface of the hair.

Also have you tried a finishing serum? A spray one, like Frizz Ease.
