Drunk Elephant b-Hydra serum? Worth it or is there a better serum out there for the £££?

Desperately hoping for some advice from the skincare gurus on here! I do lurk on the AMAZING (Drunk Elephant etc) semi-pro skincare thread but I'm in such a muddle about how to up my skincare game that I thought I'd be better off not sounding like a nincompoop on there!

I'm 42, skin is good but noticing an increase in expression lines on forehead and think I just need to step my skincare up a notch now. I'm happy to spend on skincare as I spend almost nothing on makeup (or booze these days!) and I love natural-as-possible, cruelty-free brands with serious clout. Eg I use Emma Hardie balm cleanser which is ££ but worth every penny to me.

I've been using Aurelia products (a gorgeous night oil and day serum) but just feel I need to step things up fractionally more in the anti-ageing department).

Don't want to use a full-on strong retinol or acid as my skin can break our VERY badly with too strong a product (eg Sunday Riley Luna gave me huge cystic spots on my chin) but a serum with some form of retinol/oid might make sense? Is that a really stupid thing to say???

I have seen rave reviews about Drunk Elephant B-serum but is it worth it? Is there anything better out there I could try (ideally Space NK as I have a voucher!)

Also, am I better off using a night OIL or using a serum at night layered with a cream? I love the feel of oil and it does seem to suit my skin but is a serum/cream combo 'better' for anti-ageing?

Sorry if I sound like an ignoramous! I used to know a lot about skincare but since having DD and since needing more targeted products I don't really know where to start!

A good new serum would be a great start I think!! Drunken, elephantine or otherwise.

Oh and I am also wondering about Herbivore products as have been reading about their night time facial oils (and they fit my cruelty-free specifications!). Again, they're not cheap at all though and I don't want to make an expensive mistake!!

Has anyone used these?
