I tend to live in jeans, but will be having a hysterectomy in a couple of weeks so need something softer and more relaxed around the hip/tummy region. I'm 5'9" with a 34" leg, so getting things to fit generally is a ballache. I'd like some joggers but can't find any long enough that are soft. Do you think dresses/tights are the way to go? Bit clueless really.

I lived in too large leggings , high waisted cotton pants and long t shirts

Get leggings a size larger x 2

Stock up on hot water bottles and be prepared to REST
And I really mean that

Btw, don’t be too upset at having it done with full incision. From what I gather, the risk of adhesions (internal scarring and attachment to internal bits & pieces, causing long-term pain & complications) is much less this way. I had mine 12 yrs ago and have never looked back. I am saying this to try and make you feel less frightened. I took the advice of doctors and got up and moving ASAP. Which also minimizes adhesion risk.

Btw, bladder is able to take up more space now, so able to hang on for a bit longer too! 😆

Hello, I've just recently gone through abdominal surgery and I stuck to loose fitting clothes. I lived in baggy tops & loose fitting leggings and lounge pants.

Primark do a great & cheap range of lounge wear that's comfortable and not rough on the skin.

Thanks for positive vibes everyone. And for the interesting news about 'open' surgery. I'm in a medical trial of a new piece of kit that cauterises the internal wounds meaning no stitches on the inside. It's meant to make it easier and quicker for the surgeon and slightly quicker healing.

I just bought a floppy grey-blue velvet long top with pockets in the white stuff sale (not somewhere I normally shop, but DD likes it on me) and some ridiculous but comfy leopard print pjs from primark as well as some of their brushed cotton ones both in big sizes. Also a phase eight floppy batwing top.
