Moisturiser - is it worth the splurge

Can anyone recommend a great moisturiser and eye cream that actually improves skin in terms of fine lines etc.
Has anyone used la mer? Seems to get rave editorial reviews but is really expensive.
Have normal to dry skin.
Would love to hear any suggestions

Also 42! - and noticing how we're -my friend's other mums etc are all in need of a boost.
My husband really hates the idea of botox and fillers so am respecting his wishes for now...

I am using Omorovicza illuminating moisturiser (£85 if you please - it was a Xmas gift!) at the moment and can't wait to finish it up so I can go back to Olay. Agree about serums though - Dr Sebagh hyuralonic serum does seem to make a bit of a difference.

In the morning I use C E Ferulic from SkinCeuticals which is a vitamin C serum, followed by a strong sunscreen. In the evening after cleansing I apply a retinoid cream prescribed to me by my dermatologist.

These changes have transformed my skin.

This is a whole new world for me. Thanks all

That nivea vs la mer article was fascinating. I have been using nivea for ages, I have quite reactive skin and it doesn't make me go red etc, and it costs next to nothing. Result :)

Cmd I love the Daily Mail article, it's eye opening!

I use IS clinical pro heal serum which is really expensive but has worked wonders for my skin. I think any vitamin c serum in the morning would help though. Then high SPF. In the evening I use a Medik8 crystal retinal cream and pop a night cream over the top. M&S sleep cream is fab or Olay one with lots of peptides.

La Mer is all marketing.

I am using Kakadu Plum serum at the moment and my skin looks fab. I am interested in recommendations for a moisturiser though, but must be cruelty-free.

I don't believe that more £ means better. I use Aldi serum and moisturiser but I will only use Liz Earle c and p to cleanse and her instant boost tonic to tone. I think if you wear make up, it's worth spending on a good cleanser which suits your skin but as for moisturiser, I'm actually happier with the Aldi ones than I was with the previous ones I spent ££ on.

Agree that there is no need to spend ££ on moisturisers, they just sit on top of the skin.

I’m happy to pay a bit more for serums as you get more research/active ingredients but that’s not to say there aren’t some good serums out there if you are on a budget.
