Unassuming black (?) pumps or shoes that I can wear with good dresses instead of decent heels? Preferably that give some protection from the rain? Does such a thing exist?

I have heels and smart shoes, but I’m looking for something that probably doesn’t exist for now while I can’t wear the heels.

For commuting, I would normally put good shoes in bag and wear trainers, then swap, but this won’t work anymore (ok for commuting, not ok for work). I’ve got a bad back, so sensible shoes are the way forward for now, but I don’t want to give up on the dresses!

Is there such a thing? I just want unnoticeable shoes that don’t look out of place , that blend into the background and don’t look awful.

Loafers ? Though I'm not keen on them myself.

I have some pumps that have a small wedge so keep your feet off the wet floor so to speak

Brogues

Clarks do plenty of quite smart low heels, as do Gabor. I like a shoe by Hotter called Donna. Not everyone's cup of tea but smart and quirky and v well balanced. I have recovered from a broken back.

Depending on budget Geox, LK Bennett and Peter Kaiser have good options.

When my back is bad I find a spring sole helps. Carvela/JL have had good loafers like this.

In desperation for this I tried on children’s (girls) shoes in Clark’s yesterday. Flat, buckle, t-bar, black. Waterproof and pretty comfy.

Would love some links for the others!

Am on phone and can't link but google will bring them up.

I wear dune pointy flats
I don’t suit brogues
I love Peter kaiser
Hotter Gabor and geox are usually too wide for me

Ooh thank you, I’ll get googling. I have big feet, so think I’d struggle with children’s shoes. I had a perfect pair - slim, but good materials and nice sole, but have been unable to find anything since.

What about these from Miista? I have this particular shoe in 3 different colours as they're really comfy so I can walk to work but still look presentable when I get there and they're not totally frumpy.
