Travelling clothes

Hi,

I'm off on holiday in 3 weeks, and I need to find something stylish & comfortable for the journey (18 hours)

However, I'm only 5 feet tall, and a size 14, so things like thick joggers make me look HUGE.

I normally wear a lot of Lagenlook, but I was thinking maybe stylish joggers, layers of a long sleep t shirt, a sweat shirt & a black biker jacket with a massive scarf, and maybe black converse?

Only problem is I have no idea where to look for stylish joggers, I have a knack of being able to make the most stylish clothes look like I pulled them off the floor of a 14 year old boys bedroom Sad

Does anyone have any ideas?

*That should be a long sleeve t shirt, not a sleep t shirt

How about yoga pants? As comfy as joggers but not as clingy as leggings. And I always wear slip on style trainers for easy removal on the flight .

Try Hush - but be ready to size down A LOT!

Victoria's secret PINK

I like The White Company for nice loungewear and they always seem to have some sort of sale on so maybe check there?
Where are you going? I try to travel in things that I know I will wear when away - so would ask if that jacket is something you’ll wear? If not then I would go for a long sleeve tshirt, cashmere type jumper, mid length cardigan, converse and a wrap. I wore something similar on a recent trip to Oz and it worked well

I'm 5'5, size 14/16 and I have just bought these from Peacocks www.peacocks.co.uk/lds-knitted-jogger-1e7598.html for lounging at home as I needed some new loungewear and didn't want to spend a lot.

They are unbelievably comfortable! I bought a Large and they are slightly too big - I'm tempted to get another pair in Medium. They are a very lightweight knit and would be perfect for travelling. I would pair with layers exactly as you have suggested, the only difference being that I would wear slip-on skater shoes rather than Converse for ease at the airport/on the plane.

The Hush boyfriend jeans are soo comfy (wearing them now as I pretended to get dressed then couldn't be bothered). Barely feel they're on. Style with a fine knit type slouchy sweater and ankle boots but take thick socks for the plane? Add in a colourful scarf/pashmina to cover your eyes or just in case the plane is cold and runs out of blankets. Another tip is the avene water facial spray to keep your face awake looking.

Definitely agree on a lightweight cashmere jumper if you have budget, Pure, White Company are always reliable. Jigsaw have a few nice ones in their sale too. Possibly a wrap instead, if you want to go for layers? Also doubles up as a blanket instead of scratchy airline ones.

I would also agree that yoga pants are a comfier alternative to tracksuits, and more flattering too

I’m assuming you’re flying so my biggest tips for long haul are

  • a soft, wire free bra. I can never get properly comfy if I’m wearing a normal one!
  • silk sleep mask - picked a great one up off Amazon for a tenner. Very lightweight and not at all sweaty!
  • a J pillow. Looks weird but really helps me sleep better on planes compared to the usual U shaped ones

PS being stylish really only matters in the airport (if even then!). I always change before I get on the plane. Comfort is king!

I'm off to New York, and so far the weather isn't too different to here (Highlands of Scotland), so I'm hoping I might wear the biker jacket there, otherwise I have my trusty down coat.

I have a pair of the hush harems, but because I'm so small, they're just too long to look good.

Those peacock joggers look great.

I need a cashmere sweater, so I'll have a look for that too.

Thank you so much.

I just bought the black cotton with cashmere joggers from the white company and am planning on travelling in them next month. They’re a nice fit, fairly thin but cosy and warm.
