Lip balm for sore, dry chapped lips?

Can anyone recommend a lip balm for sore, dry, chapped lips?

It's for my mother who's unbelievably fussy. She used to use flexitol lip balm but for some reason pharmacies have stopped stocking the flexitol. She asked me to check online for her and it appears as if it's only to be got from Australia. I browsed around on a few Australian sites but postage costs is steep. Not to mention custom taxes in top of that too. She's wants me to put in an order but I'm not doing it because it makes no sense financially. Your talking about over 100 for a few lip balms all in all for a few lip balms. It's crazy. I do have family in Australia but I don't see that one as an option either. For me to order online and send a delivery to them. They get up early and go to work and they wouldn't be at home to receive a package. They also work on Saturdays or a trip to a postal depot is out of the question for them. Not to mention when her stash of lip balms run out, doing it all over again no doubt. I wouldn't mind if she had a bank account and card, she could pay for all of it herself but she doesn't so it would have to come out of my account. I don't have the funds.

I'm hoping to maybe find a lip balm here and hopefully she might take to it. She tried many of the known brands like la Roche posay and eucerin but she didn't like them or they didn't work for her.

We use Aloe kote plus. Normally buy it from a surf shop online. It's about £5 per pot but worth every penny.

Now this may not work for everyone but we live on a hill farm and all get very sore lips. We use lanolin cream which is for breast feeding and or chapped skin. Works brilliantly on even badly chapped lips.

I suffer from constant chapped, dry lips. Nothing seems to cure them but this is the best I have found so that I can live with them.

Lanolips is pretty good, contains lanolin as you might guess, so is the neutrogena one in a stick. Also Burt's bees are nice.

I get through a lot of lip balm!Grin

The forever living aloe one is pretty good. (*disclaimer ** I don't buy anything else from FL Wink )

Eve Lom - really lovely

Nuxe Rêve de Miel Lip Balm in the little glass pot.
I have no idea how to pronounce it, but it's absolutely brilliant.
They have it in the larger M&S shops with the posh cosmetics sections.
It's magic.

I swear by Lucas Paw Paw lip balm - two tubes for a tenner on amazon. I couldn't get along with the lanolin stuff but paw paw balm is great.

JuniperBeer · 06/01/2019 16:42

Another vote here for lanolin.

Blistex intense (or something like that) is really good if anyone gets those little cuts in the corners of their mouths, and is a good lip balm too. I leave it on overnight and all fixed by the morning

FenellasRedVelvetDress · 06/01/2019 16:45

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream.
It’s the dogs bollocks, I never ever leave the house without it.
It’s not cheap but you get what you pay for and it’s easy to get. You only need a tiny bit - I go through a tube every year and I use it a LOT.

minipie · 06/01/2019 16:49

Blistex Intensive Moisturiser. (The one in the plastic tube not the one in the metal tube). I have eight hour cream too but the Blistex is way more effective for lips.

Heard many people swear by Carmex too but never tried it myself.

Burts bees is brilliant

Bubbagumpshrimp · 06/01/2019 19:49

O’keeffes is the most brilliant lip balm and I have tried them all!

MrsFoxPlus4 · 06/01/2019 19:50

Nipple cream! It’s an absolute game changer!

byronicheroine · 07/01/2019 21:21

@Stealthpolarbear those little cuts are also a symptom of vitamin b12 deficiency

linetta1 · 08/01/2019 07:58

agree on o'keeffe lip repair, it's brilliant!

Lelivre · 10/01/2019 12:57

I bought the Lucas paw paw because of this thread and after using on my awful lips just yesterday and overnight I’m amazed at the improvement. Thanks!

U2HasTheEdge · 10/01/2019 15:03

Due to being on roaccutane I need to constantly wear lip balm.

I like the Blistex Intensive Moisturiser. Palmer's cocoa butter lip balm is lovely and moisturising but for some reason it stings for quite some time. Lush Ultrabalm is nice if you want some pure grease.

I have a small tube of 8 Hour cream and it feels lovely on, but I don't think it is quite worth the price tag . Good for other parts of my skin right now, but not worth it just for lips. Blistex Intensive does just as good a job.

I now need to try the paw paw.
