Foaming face wash for sensitive skin

I’m looking for a foaming face wash for really sensitive skin. I can’t use anything with citric acid, salicylic, lactic acid and silicones. I have used Simple for years but prefer something professional that is very gentle.

Not foaming but best wash I have ever used is the green people one

Cerave foaming cleanser is good, soothing and non irritating. I’m allergic to Simple products as are all my kids but Cerave is fine. I’ve also just discovered that it comes in a 1000 ml size that’s cheaper than buying the little bottles. Brilliant for my student dd.

I love the caudalie foaming cleanser.

I've tried loads but always return to the Simple one!

La Roche Posay Toleriane was very good but too expensive for me to use long-term.

My favourite is the gentle cleansing balm from Monu. |It goes on like a cream then emulsifies with the water. You then remove it with a muslin cloth and your skin is lovely and soft.

I use the Aloe Vera range from the Body shop, their foaming face wash is nice.

FrazzyAndFrumpled · 03/01/2019 15:09

Soup, where do you buy that from? I can only see it in the US online.

Hiphopopotamous · 03/01/2019 15:10

I've tried some nice fancy ones but always go back to Simple too.

HalloumiGus · 03/01/2019 15:18

Frazzy you can get it on Amazon.uk although it must come from America as delivery is very slow. I'm intrigued by it too as also have rosacea.

I got a Rituals one in the advent calendar Ritual of Sakura foaming face wash and it's really nice and gentle too.

Cherries101 · 03/01/2019 16:21

I tried the No 7 one before returning to Simple.

Thanks Halloumi

My dh has started using an Oilatum wash for eczema. Initially it's like a thick oil but foams slightly into a water-soluable wash. I've started using it on my face when my usual oil has run out and I can't be bothered to go downstairs to get more.
I developed very sensitive skin in my 40s and even lovely gentle products like Neal's Yard cleansers made my face itchy. I started using oil and a hot flannel on my face and have never looked back. I always have olive oil in the house (cheap and easy), but I occasionally switch it up. I've used almond, avocado and castor oil but have never noticed a significant difference. I love how makeup melts off and my face feels clean but not tight or itchy.

I tried loads but oil cleansers like DHC are best for me even though I have oily skin! My skin is 100 times better than with foaming washes. Might be worth a try?

FrazzyAndFrumpled · 03/01/2019 19:09

Hi Soup/Hurricane Wink thanks for that! I might give it a go, I also struggle with products on my face but not to the extent you do by the sounds of it!

Cetaphil is very gentle.

Isleepinahedgefund · 03/01/2019 20:37

My skin is v sensitive, I find foaming cleansers are not the best tbh. I use Cerave (not the foaming one) and the hot cloth cleanser from Waitrose own brand. Both very gentle.

My skin also really likes the pure soap bars from Aldi, I use that quite often as well.

My skin used to tolerate anything I threw at it until recently when a new medication made it this sensitive. Through trial and error I have found that the gentlest products are usually inexpensive - the mid range Simple etc are full of cheap, undesirable ingredients, and the high end ones are full of different but equally irritating ingredients.

thefirstmrsdewinter · 03/01/2019 23:31

Sorry op, the cleanser I mentioned earlier isn't Oilatum, it's Eucerin bath and shower oil: www.eucerin.co.uk/products/atopicontrol/cleansing-oil

REN Rose foaming cleanser is super gentle and kind on dry skin.

Having said that, I was shocked to discover that DHC olive soap turned into my second cleanser holy grail. I have very dry skin and never expected a bar of soap to work for me but it's glorious!

I second the foaming ones not being the best, the ingredients to make them foam are harsh on the skin’s barrier due to them being alkaline when the skin should be more on the acid side.

CeraVe non foaming here too - feels like it is less effective at first if you’re used to the “clean” feel of a foaming product which is actually stripping the acid mantle, but it does work!
