Can anyone give me a real beginners guide for how to do eye make up?

Both say time and night time?

I've looked up YouTube and i find it overwhelming. I can spend a bit of money getting some new stuff but not much.

Violette_fr on YouTube is great. Not intimidating at all, not overwhelming, just nice and simple and most importantly very affirming - it is not actually about the make up so much but about being comfortable in your skin.

Thank you. I was thinking of going to boots and getting no 7 products.

I would suggest M&S if you can get to one - their make up is really nice and not too expensive. Also it’s cruelty free, if that’s a consideration for you. They carry Stila and other brands too, a nice mix (in my local one, at least)

But no 7 is pretty good too, from what I remember. If you know what colours suit you or what you want then go where you feel comfortable.

If you need help on picking colours etc then somewhere like Bobbi Brown can be good for getting advice. But they are more pricey.

I would recommend eyeshadow sticks for quick and easy application. My favourites are Beauty Pie, By Terry, Rosie for Autograph at M&S ( but not the non Rosie ones), Laura Mercier, Lumene and Bobbi Brown. Kiko are good budget ones but not as "glidey" as the others. Draw on the lid and blend into the crease with a brush or a finger. If you find that they crease you can pay a little neutral powder eyeshadow on the top.

I recommend Superdrug revolution palettes as they give a good mix of colours and they're super cheap. I found I had to buy a few different brushes but the shadows I haven't spent a fortune on. I'm a bit cheap Grin

I like Rosie for Autograph too.

I agree, shadow sticks are a great place to start.

If you have Debenhams gift cards from Christmas gifts you could get an Urban Decay palette. There is a basic naked one which is good for daytime. Then you just need a few more smokey or shimmery colours for evening and you’re sorted.

Lisa Eldridge is good on YouTube

This came up on my YouTube just now. A great example of how easily you can do a daytime look.

Hannah Martin (also using Bobbi Brown) is very good too.
