are salcylic and glycolic acid bad for spider/thread veins?

I have the bloody things around my nose, cheek and eyelids :(
I don't know if i'm imagining it or not but my thread veins seem more prominent after using those acids for 2 months now.

They have improved my skin enormously so i don't know whether i am noticing them now that there are less blemishes?

I heard one of those acids thickens the skin while the other thins?

I feel slight tingling when I put them on but I don't get red skin from them.

I haven't drunk alcohol for over a month and haven't been in the sun much without spf.

TIA

Following as I am now wondering the same. I assumed I could see them more since my pores were clearer but perhaps that's not the case. I've had to stop glycolic as my cheeks weren't tolerating it.

donkeylegs · 30/12/2018 19:09

Thanks for replying Esqueleto, do you use salicylic acid still?
When you say your cheeks weren't tolerating it, what symptoms did you have or notice?

Watching with interest. I started a similar thread earlier regarding Retinoid that is just started using.

Interesting, I have spider veins on my chin & round my nose, they're not too obvious but make the area look a bit red.

I use an anti aging serum which I think contains retinol, then a spf 15 cream which mattifies my oily skin.

On the veins I then put Clinique Superprimer for redness then a bit of foundation.

I've never tried separate acids or retinol on my skin but I'm going to look at the ingredients in my serum, day & night creams.

I'd like to see the local dermatologist about the veins as she could get rid of them but it would cost up £100s, not sure I want to spend the money??

Yes I carried on with the bha but now just use it on my nose and chin.
My cheeks have these tiny red spots under the skin that never seem to come to the surface or go. They're also quite dehydrated and wrinkle up if I make a cats arse with my mouth (hope that makes sense)! I stopped the glycolic a week ago and the spots are fading. Haven't noticed an improvement in hydration yet.

Very similar here. I started using Alpha Liquid Gold and loved it but then woke up with irritated red patches. Stupidly thought it might be a coincidence and tried again with less frequent application. My skin has now become irritable and gets really red and sensitive when it never used to.

Have switched to LRP Toleraine and plan to see a dermatologist to find out what is going on.

Lumene · 30/12/2018 20:01

Also similar with the red spots and newly wrinkled skin on cheeks.

Biologifemini · 30/12/2018 20:20

Yes
You really need a zinc based suncream otherwise you are exposing your skin to UV and making any thread veins worse
Same for retinols
A chemical suncream factor 50 won’t cut it unless you are reapplying frequently
I learned the hard way.
I suggest you reduce the acids down to weekly and in the evenings and use a very good stable suncream

Lumene · 30/12/2018 20:28

Thanks Biologi. I just bought an LRP SPF without zinc but am guessing that’s actually no good then?

Biologifemini · 31/12/2018 08:54

It is probably ok if you are reapplying every 2 hours or so.
I mixed a chemical with a little zinc suncream to thin it out a bit. But the physical zinc/titanium blocks are stable and seem to work better......just my opinion though.

Lumene · 31/12/2018 09:17

Thank you.

zippyswife · 31/12/2018 10:40

@Biologifemini which do you use/recommend? I also have been using LRP spf50 and thought I was doing really well with that but if that doesn’t cut it I will switch. I don’t reapply every 2 hours as I normally put make up on top.

Thank you! yes I looked again this morning at my face and my spider veins have definitely increase Sad
I thought being olive skinned I could get away with not wearing spf in british winter..guess not!
