Double wear- how do you apply yours?

Fingers? Beauty blender? Brush? Primer or without? Finishing powder or without?

Thanks!

Im a MUA and used double wear for years. Did change as it is very thick. You will need to use a primer with it, to give your skin a more even base. I would dab on with a foundation brush, and then blend with my fingers (instead of all these fancy tools) as the heat in your fingers, will heat up the product more and give a more even coverage!!
I wouldn't use a setting powder, as it's very easy with double wear to look caked in make up! Get a setting mist instead!! Not adding anymore make up then, but will hold your foundation in place beautifully!

That's really helpful thanks! Is there a setting list you'd recommend?

I have oily skin and use a small amount put on with a beauty blender- then a powder to set. Doesn't look cakey and lasts all day! Love love love it !

I use a glowing primer then apply it little by little with my fingers. Not under my eyes though as it's too cakey, I use Benefit boi-ing moisturizing stick one for eyes. I have terribly dry eye lids and under eyes, not sure why, I think it's an autoimmune thing!

It depends on which amount of coverage I am going for, but most days I use one pump’s worth of product (I buy the pump separately which is a bit annoying) and apply with a brush.
I prefer setting with a bit of translucent powder before applying other powder products.

If I want more coverage, I use a makeup sponge (Real Techniques) and apply more product.

I had the Estee lady match me yesterday as I hadn't used the product before. I don't really like using foundation everyday but I have broken veins on my cheeks and want to help disguise them. I had read that Doublewear Light could go some way to this and of course not so heavy as foundation.
The rep recommended applying with a brush from some on the back of your hand, and actually it did look very good.
I couldn't find a suitable brush this morning, so dabbed it over my cheeks/chin and then went bonkers with a cosmetic sponge. DD (17 and make-up central) said I looked nice today.
Was very surprised to find myself a Pale Almond though, as I have darkish brown hair and brown eyes, but it blends in better than anything I've ever had.

I would recommend Urban Decay all nighter setting spray (£23) ..your make up won't budge all day!
My friend (also MUA) both do a lot of make up for reality stars, models etc would use this on them..but on ourselves, we swear by a bit of hair spray! Your make up will stay perfect until you want to take it off! Very cheap and you always have it in the house! Secret trick of the trade!

I'm wondering if the formula has changed for dw? I've always used it but this year I had a break from it and used Huda beauty, went back to it and found although it does give full coverage and stays on it's so greasy now on me Confused

Beauty Blender.
I find it gives a streak free finish that nothing else (fancy brushes or fingers) gives.
Love this foundation so much....
Thank god they finally came out with paler shades....

Howaboutthisone · 29/12/2018 15:44

Really interesting to read the different ways. Funnily enough I did use to use hairspray to set my face! I'm wearing dw some days and dw light others. The old dw light was my hg but the new formulation doesn't go on/last nearly as well which is why I've started trying dw. I usually use my fingers but have tried with a brush in the past and tried out a sponge today and quite liked it. Need to find a good float but not shiny primer to go under it now too I think.

Use my Zoeva foundation brush to put it on.
Finish laura mercier setting translucent powder.
Do not look cakey at all

BusterGonad · 31/12/2018 06:21

The primer I use is Maybeline (like Babyskin) in pink tube but I think it may be for the Asian market only! Not helpful but they may sell it in the uk (presuming that's where you are!

I use primer then usually I apply with a Mac foundation brush and a very thin layer of power over the top.
Having said that, it looks best applied with a moist beauty blender but I find it takes longer and uses excess product so only do that for special occasions.
