size 16-18 fashion bloggers?

Now that I am losing weight, I am looking for fashion bloggers of around size 16-18 to help me learn to dress for my size. Can you recommend any?

When I google, I keep coming up with plus size bloggers who are really large. I've seen some of these bloggers before and followed some and they horrify me. I don't think they are helping larger ladies (of which I was one) to dress better or be confident. Their outfits are nearly always awful.

Their focus does not seem to be on being fashionable, flattering or confident, but on emphasising that we are BIG GIRLS. For example, dresses that are 2 sizes too small, and always with a belt - supposedly to show a waist but in reality to push out the fat bellies and boobs. That's how they make their money after all.
And always short dresses, so we can see the fat legs, lest we forget they are plus size bloggers. Bright colours and patterns that no one would realistically wear in real life, all to draw the eye to the fact that they are big girls! and the jewelry, lots of jewelry will definitely hide the fact that we are fat, right?

Instead of making me feel 'body positive', they just made me feel really shit and more determined to lose weight, which I have (although some more to go). I guess I should say thanks to these bloggers for showing me how awful I must have looked, and how I did not want to continue to look. I went to these bloggers to feel confident about my body but instead they inspired me (horrified me really) to start losing weight.

But sadly I am struggling to find bloggers who have a TRUE body positive message, realistic and sensible clothing that is still stylish, and also mid size. Are there really no bloggers who are 16-18 (and not lying about it?)

Recommendations please

Well I'm generally a bit Hmm at your post but I think Style Me Sunday is prob about a size 16 and dresses quite nicely. I don't know if she has a blog but she is all over instagram.

CatherineMaitland · 27/12/2018 21:26

There's an Instagram one called Midsize Collective - www.instagram.com/midsizecollective/?hl=en

I quite like @helenwearsasize18 on Instagram...

bellajay · 28/12/2018 08:58

You could try Fashion Foie Gras, Erica Davies, Style Me Sunday as mentioned above. #midsizestyle might help. Hannah Gale is a bit smaller but might be useful if you’re younger and @ms_wunderbar is German so you might not be able to buy her exact clothes but she dresses well.

You don’t mention your age or style so hard to recommend but there’s a variety above.

You don’t sound too body positive yourself to be honest Grin Is TRUE body positivity only possible below a size 18 and when wearing clothes that are considered flattering?

Thanks for the suggestions. Helen on instagram is quite good, I have seen her before. I'll look at the others.

Bethany is not a size 16/18 though. Some of her outfits are nice but she spoils it with the tattoos and body hair.

The thing is, OP, that once you get above a certain size, you are never going to be able to hide it. Perhaps these plus-size fashion bloggers have realised that, and decided to wear things that they like, and they don't really care whether they are deemed to be "flattering" or not. You seem to think that they should be wearing shapeless sacks and no jewellery, lest anyone think they are actually happy to be fat.

I mean, well done for your weight loss, but you sound like you're turning into one of those once-fat people who becomes really mean about anyone who's still overweight. Your horror of fat women is coming across really viscerally in your posts.

looking for mostly fashion thanks, not someone my teenage niece used to follow on youtube.

I'm late 30s and I like smart casual clothing

Your disgust at the people who are bigger than you/similar to your old size just drips off the page. Very unpleasant.

As they say on Mumsnet:

Did you mean to be so rude?

I’ve shifted from a size 24 to a 12. To be honest, by the time I was 16-18 I was able to get inspitpration from pretty mainstream clothing. At size 24, not so much as you were often into specialist ranges or shops, but there are very few ranges these days that don’t go to an 18. So while the people I was taking inspiration from might have been a 10, what they were wearing was available in a bigger size.

Having said that, being fat isn’t a sin or a moral failing and if anyone wants to trust their stuff I’d support their absolute right to do it however they like. Liking yourself is pretty crucial for your mental health ime.

Tw1nsetAndPearls · 28/12/2018 20:39

Clothes are not an invisibility cloak, if you are fat you are fat.

Tw1nsetAndPearls · 28/12/2018 20:41

I say that as a size 18 fattie. Wear what you want.

Having said that often somebody'a character shines through and yours is not coming across well on this thread.

Louise Pentland is looking fab at the moment

@celebbully I saw the odd comment. Louise P has lost some weight and so may be a similar size to the OP

gracielooloo · 29/12/2018 09:37

Well said Beerflavoured, wish Mumsnet had a like button.

Not a fashion blogger at all, but I take midsize inspiration from the fantastically stylish www.instagram.com/monitoress
