What are your "miracle" hair styling appliances and products

I have some Christmas money and I want to spend it on my hair; at the moment I typically straighten it everyday with my straighteners but in some recent photographs I realised how flat it looks. So I want to treat myself to some new things so I was wondering what are your holy grail hair styling appliances (hair dryers, air stylers, curlers, etc) and hair products.

Thank you :)

Babyliss Big Hair and Wella Reflections oil.

Bombardier25966 · 26/12/2018 13:59

It depends on your hair type and length...

Babyliss big hair for aurw

Don't rate Big Hair but really DO rate Curl Secret which I got second hand on EBay as it is pricey.

I really rate Bumble and Bumble hair care but I don't get it often as extremely pricey.
They have different ones for different hair types, I have a mixed hair type, I chose seaweed as I have oily roots and it was magic

Lush Shampoo Bars

L'Oréal Elvive Double Elixir Thickening Mist (blue liquid) I swear by this I get really knotty sections at the nape of the neck and it's an excellent detangler - normal price range

Couldn't do without my Dyson drier, Kerastase and Philip Kingsley products and L'Oreal Professional Mythic Oil.

@Bombardier25966 my hair is quite long (around bra strap length), but very frizzy

I am considering the Babyliss Big Hair as I used to have one probably 5 years ago but it broke, but looking on Argos there are several types now - which one is best?

The Big Hair works well on my shoulder length, frizz prone hair

BirdieInTheHand · 26/12/2018 15:19

Toni and Guy sea salt spray is great for adding texture and volume into my very fine hair.

Also love the babyliss big hair and cannot wait to get my hands on a dyson air curl in the NY

I would go silicone-free if you are frizzy. Brands like Perfect Day and Phytokeratin are a bit ££ but will probably stop the plasticky build-up which results in frizz.

I have a Curl Secret which i got as a surprise Christmas present a couple of years ago. I have thick, frizzy hair which needs straightening to look "normal" but doesn't hold a curl for an entire evening. The Curl Secret thing is bloody marvellous, once you get the hang of it - you end up with a head of curls that last for days!!!

Don’t get one with a metallic barrel. With your length of hair the biggish one will be fine.

Which one would you recommend? Thank you

I have the £69.99 one. I've never tried any of the others so can't comment on whether it is better or worse than the older ones but it leaves my frizz prone hair smoother and more styled than airdrying or blast drying and better styled but slightly more frizzy than drying with a round brush and hairdryer.

I then go over the top layer of my hair lightly with straighteners on a low heat and it gets rid of the small amount of frizz it leaves.

My hair is a little shorter than yours and layered through the front and ends otherwise it just falls flat.

BirdieInTheHand · 26/12/2018 16:05

I have an older version of the £49.99 one. Very happy with it although on its last legs now (has it a good few years and use it most days)

Babyliss big hair and Terax crema conditioner, expensive, difficult to find but so good for fine frizzy hair. Happy hair!

Thank you everyone, I have now ordered the Babyliss Big Hair :) now I have fallen down the rabbit hole at looking at other hairdryers too, my current ones are around 6 years old cheap Babyliss ones that burn my scalp and take forever to dry my hair. I wash my hair very often (everyday Blush) so I think it is worth investing in a more powerful dryer that will shorten my blow dry time. Anyone have any recommendations?
