They have some Japanese skincare stuff that's quite tempting looking but you have to take a membership.

I have the gel liner in a pot and found it good, the pencils were ok but nothing special.

I have 2 of the mascaras, both fine. The wonder powder is good and the tinted moisturizer has good coverage but limited colour choices.

I did buy the perfume samples but only liked one of the 3, I haven't purchased any of them. The lipglosses are good.

The skincare has been my best buy, mainly because I used soap and olay before! I have bought the retinol and spf - to use it is my ny resolution.

I am using a serum and facial oil which I like. I do find the size of the pots quite small and I use stuff up quickly.

The retail prices are high, the facial oil is supposedly £75 which is the same unit cost as my bobbi brown face oil. However the oil cost £25 but it used up the majority of one months subscription. Whether or not they are made with high end ingredients, I have no idea but I can see the logic. There are only a limited number of skincare factories and they dont have the marketing, brand and counter space to factor into costs - so the business model makes sense.

I did upgrade my membership and bought a top up but I have replaced virtually all my 10 year old make up and bought lots of new skincare. I will probably downgrade to the £5 monthly membership next month after my 3 months are up. This will give me £50 a month which I will save up and do a couple of orders over the year to replace stuff.
I do like their pledge to reduce packaging on environmental reasons (and reduce costs), so its packaged in unweighted tubes, jars and is sent in a cardboard box with limited plastic used.

Overall I have been very happy with it. I did struggle to buy lipsticks as the colour was always wrong, their website needs more pictures, videos. They are very active on social media and do a new joiners first month free, so good for testing it out.

I have recommended it to a few friends.

I ended up ordering their sensitive / rosacea kit which was 4 products with a 'typical' value of £150. It used up my first month bonus £50 on top of normal £100. Great to get some tips for the next few months.

So set is Japanfusion cleanser and hydraprep lotion, Stem cell moisture shot serum and Super healthy skin daily moisture lotion. Will report back!

I am a big fan of the ordinary as their stuff works and is excellent value.

I tend to save up 3 months of allowance and just buy a few key items of skin care from beauty pie each quarter.

The five minute facial is very good as is the overnight retinol balm. The clay mask is worthwhile too and i still buy the double rinse off cleanser.

I liked the super healthy day cream and juju night cream but find aldis caviar day/night to be better.

I tried quite a few of the BP serums too but the ordinary products won out and i haven't re purchased.

I tried their mascara, blusher, primer, bronzer and a few face powders, it was all ok, but i haven't re purchased any of the make up.

The candles are also rather nice if you have a small allowance left over to spend.

Great to get recommendations thanks. I'm looking forward to it arriving. I was going to do a no spend few months but then remembered I signed up for this so I'll have to make an exception 😊

I was part of the product test. I tried one of their lipstick sets (lipstick, lipgloss, lip pencil) and initially liked it BUT the lipstick has subsequently broken from its casing, and so is really unusable. Their packaging is really cheap for the make-up; they say that expensive brands add weights etc to make their products seem luxury, but I haven’t had any luxury brands’ lipsticks break like that.

Things I really liked and would join to replace are they eye shadow sticks (I’ve actually used it all up) and the foundation.

I also tried one of the serums- it was fine, but I couldn’t see any difference to my skin so wouldn’t bother replacing.

Sounds similar to the FM perfumes concept? But with membership? I found FM perfumes while smelling great don't last long enough and require a lot more, I went through 4 bottles this year when perfume usually lasts me months. So I'd be a bit dubious but tempted!

HalloumiGus · 30/12/2018 19:38

@MathsFiend how did you match your foundation colour? I use Bare Minerals because it doesn't usually aggravate my rosacea but not sure how to pick which foundation. I did see you can buy a sample pack.

Any eye shadow pencil shades you recommend? I would be keen on these in theory if they are quick to apply. Ditto any good colours in the lipsticks?

I joined a few weeks ago and got the super retinol . I had to stop using my Paula's Choice clinical retinol due to my skin reacting to it and this BP one was meant to be a formula designed to prevent the drying effects.
So far I haven't had any dryness or flaking from the BP retinol.

I also got a blush which is lovely.
