Nasolabial folds

I have deep ones and I think I would look a lot better without them! I'm early thirties so can only see them getting worse. Is there any way of getting rid of them without having fillers? Has anyone done anything about theirs? Thanks!

No advice but I’m also in the same boat and interested in the answer!

HIFU facelift

HumptyNumptyNooNoo · 24/12/2018 16:19

Facelift doesn't do much to help IME . ( and it really f-ing hurts for months and months afterwards )

Fillers hurt like hell and need doing every 3months.

Just accept and be thankful that's the only bit you don't like!

LuckyAmy1986 · 24/12/2018 16:22

That's one thing in a long list of things I don't like! But it's really bothering me. I didn't realise fillers needed doing so often! I have never heard of this HIFU facelift, will have a look. Is that what you had done Humpty?

I had cuts behind ears type facelift. Still numb in front of ears four years later. still have folds but not as pronounced as before, but not gone totally ( as would make me look plastic )

AuntyJackiesBrothersSistersBoy · 24/12/2018 16:54

NuFace Mini. Tones/lifts cheeks so you get an overall effect of “lift”. Nothing gets rid of them entirely but then, that’d look odd.

Mercurial123 · 24/12/2018 17:26

Try RetinA it takes years to works Hot and Flashy I think she's called on You Tube has a page showing how RetinA has worked for her over about five years.

NigellasGuest · 24/12/2018 18:06

Filler doesn't necessarily hurt, and often lasts for a good year or more. Depends on the individual.

WonderWoman2019 · 24/12/2018 18:15

Retin a will help smooth surface but not tackle muscle droop or bone degradation. Electronic stimulation (nu face mentioned earlier but I use Tua trend) has helped mine when I remember to use it but honestly the best albeit temporary effect is from pale concealer in the shadow to erase it. I put almost white stripes down and pat it out. Takes practice but worth it.

Mercurial123 · 24/12/2018 18:39

Here's her write up after five
years. I've only been using Retin A for less than a year so am hoping I get such good results in the future.

I second the Nuface advice. Have has the folds since forever so it is not an age thing for me but they got a bit deeper with age. Nuface smoothes them out noticeably. I am also a big fan of Hot and Flashy. Starting on Retin A from the tube after Christmas.

AuntyJackiesBrothersSistersBoy · 25/12/2018 10:49

Mandala they’ve brilliant, aren’t they? I use mine for ten mins a day, before bed, 5/6 days a week.

WonderWoman2019 · 25/12/2018 12:26

I'm not knocking retin a by the way, I've used it for over a decade myself and love it! But it works on skin, not the underlying muscle sag and skeletal loss. Highly recommend it!

MandalaYogaTapestry · 25/12/2018 14:53

AuntieJackie absolutely! Initially I did 60 days with Nuface daily as per the instruction and after that have been doing it 2-3 times a week. I tend to spend more than 10 minutes, more like 20, so not always possible to commit to the daily use. I also have ELE attachment but tbh prefer just using the main Nufacs device.

MandalaYogaTapestry · 25/12/2018 14:54

Did anybody try Face Gym? It is supposed to work on the muscle tone.

AnaViaSalamanca · 25/12/2018 15:20

MandalaYogaTapestry I have tried face gym a couple of times, but without lasting effect. I think you have to be doing it continuously to get results.

Can you explain a bit more about Nuface please? Which model etc?

MandalaYogaTapestry · 25/12/2018 16:42

Ana, there is just one Nuface model but the device comes as Trinity (where you can add attachments) and Mini (same power, size and setting but you cannot add attachments).

There is plenty of explanation on its website of how the microcurrent works. It works on me and that's good enough. The skin tone is noticeably more supple. I also use it as a preventative method to help the face oval stay nice and firm.

AuntyJackiesBrothersSistersBoy · 25/12/2018 20:02

Ana, it’s easy to use and does smooth the skin. I’m 56 so don’t expect miracles but, I find I look better (to my eyes). I simply don’t look as worn out. I chose the NuFace Mini as I KNEW I wouldn’t stick to anything with attachments and “faff”.

santakiss · 25/12/2018 23:42

are doctors willing to prescribe retin A for vanity purposes or is it hard to get hold of? my doctor is relurant to prescribe anything so wonder if she would let me have this?

NigellasGuest · 26/12/2018 12:17

Last time I asked my doctor for Retin A, she helpfully tried to, but said it had been discontinued here, or something like that - I can't remember exactly, but there was a genuine reason. I now get it online from someone who was recommended on here, and having used properly prescribed Retin A in this country what I use now from the internet is the real thing im pretty sure.

Dontsayyouloveme · 28/12/2018 05:40

Cheek fillers will get rid of nasolabial lines. I had some and it worked a treat!
