Breast implant removal

Has anyone had this done? I had breast augmentation just over twelve years ago and am considering removal without replacement.

I had the op at a time when my self-esteem was at an all time low, I was 9 months PP and just 19 and did not consider the numerous replacements I may need.

I have tried to research but can not find many pictures of before and after. If you had a removal do you regret not having a replacement?

I understand that my breasts may not return to how they were pre augmentation but i’d like to know if anyone who has had this procedure was happy with how they looked afterwards?

I was an A cup previously, I had a 300cc implant behind the muscle and am now a C cup.

Are your implants under the muscle ?
You have less chance of rippling, with smooth implants.

Yes mine are under the muscle. There’s a lot to consider which I didn’t the first time round. I’ve had a few different consultations for replacement but don’t even know which brand of implant is best.

Are you still considering removal ?

Drona · 30/12/2018 12:10

Yes it’s my first option really as I would like to minimise further surgeries. I have looked at Nick Collis and some of the removals he has done on RealSelf. I will see if I can get a consultation with him in the new year.

I’ve also seen fat transfer after removal but it looks as though this is done more routinely in America.

I'm thinking along the same lines, hence my questions. Like you, the idea of empty pockets, isn't attractive, fat transfer would be good.
Unfortunately, I didn't react well to the last general anaesthetic, so I fear going under again. I suppose there are always gel bras to fall back on. 😄
If I decide to go ahead, it will be summertime, as that's the most convenient time for me, I'll pm you, if I do Drona.
Wishing you a very Happy New Year.

Thank you Sugarpiehoneyeye . I too will only be able to have surgery during the summer. I think I am decided on removal without replacement to minimise the risk of ALCL and to rule out future surgeries.

I will update as I go forward.
Happy New Year Smile

Hi, is anyone considering having their Allergan textured implants removed following the recent news that these have been withdrawn in Canada / France due to the possible link with ALCL. I have had these exact implants for 5 years with no issues but am now concerned.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 29/06/2019 13:45

I considered it 2 years ago. I'd had mine in for 12 years and they needed re doing. I went from an A to a C too.

I joined a FB group where women had had their implants removed. Some were kind enough to post before and after photos.

I decided to replace my implants with new ones in the end.

Oh god just realised I'd already replied to this before. Sorry!

Hello this thread may now be dead but I am interested. I had my 16 yr old ' hydragel' implants replaced 4 yrs ago. They were so rippled and I was fearful of mammagrams. I had them put in aged 36, I had 0 breast tissue, they never developed. My first husband had just left me for a busty woman and cited that as one reason. I did masses of research, it was not an easy decision to have either surgery and I paid alot for a renowned surgeon both times. Days after my recent surgery I googled and discovered ALCL which noone had mention. And joy of joys I had the most implicated implants, Allergan Biocell inside me! Needless to say I have worried endlessly since. And shortly after my beloved mum, who told me not to have the surgery, died of an auto immune condition.
My new husband is a boob man, but would support me removing these, have always hated them as I went slightly larger, the surgeon convinced me to go behind the muscle and unlike my previous smaller above muscle implants they look so fake.
I lost total trust in my well known surgeon, why on earth hadn't he informed me about ALCL, I now know none of them did at the time. I have sought out a new surgeon and am considering either removal or replacement with smaller, smooth implants. I have no natural breast tissue so going completely flat will be a huge thing and I will look concave and scarred but better that than worried and at risk. Sorry for the rant but anyone done this, removed implants and gone flat? Or replaced with smooth? Really keen to know. Have had 2 mri's and current implants seem ok at the moment but if you watched Despatches recently you will know British women are suffering from ALCL and it is a real risk. I am weighing up whether to join over 200 in a legal case agsinst Allergen who have known about the risks from their Biocell implants for many years!!
Any comments welcome. Thankyou!
