Can anyone direct me towards lace up boots that are waterproof or warm-lined (or both) that don't look like hiking boots or ugly snow boots

I'm desperately looking for something I can wear with jeans to watch children play sports outdoors on a Saturday that I won't feel out of place in if I pop into town or for a lunchtime pub visit.

I have quite big feet - 8.5 - and after much time spent having boots delivered and sending them back, have realised that lace-up will look best.

They don't have to be both warm and waterproof - I have warm and waterproof fugly boots that I walk the dog in and can wear in extreme weather - but at least one of those properties would be useful, with a preference for warm.

You don't say how long you would like them to be, but how about something like these or these? Not sure what size they go up to, but generally looking in riding /country style shops is probably a good bet if you want insulated stuff! Sorel also might be worth a look - they do some nice, stylish boots which are warm too.

Not keen on the Clarks. They're too much like walking boots. Length a it higher than that. I like the Dublin ones actually. That is the length I am looking for.

I have these. I walk loads. They keep my feet lovely & warm & dry. I spray them with suede protecter every few months and clean the muck off with a suede brush and they look brand new even though they're a year old and heavily worn. I can't recommend them enough.

The timberlands might be too much "walking boot" style for you. But I've found they look great with so much. I wear them with skirts, dresses & jeans.

I bought a pair of Fly London leather boots 3 years ago and have worn them constantly since. They are lace up (but with a side zip for easy on and off if needed), waterproof, very warm and honestly the most comfortable boots I've ever owned. I can wear them for work, for socialising and for day to day park/sports watching etc.

I’ve just ordered some Ugg Glendale. Not laceup but I am a size 8 and tried some on in the shop recently and they looked fine.

Sorel do some lovely boots. it's not just all snow boots.

Underoverunder · 19/12/2018 17:39

I know. I feel like this should be easier. I would love a big shoe shop to walk into and try loads of pairs of boots on. My last - well worn - boots came from Jones but didn't last very well. I'm happy to pay up to £150 (max) for quality and a style I like. I've been looking for several months and probably already started a thread on here but now I am definitely looking for lace ups.

I have just taken delivery of some lovely Sorel Joan explorer boots. They are amazing, fur lined and waterproof but look cool too. Not sure what size they go up to but I got mine on Amazon.

hugoagogo · 19/12/2018 20:55

these are beautifully warm and comfy, but maybe not high enough for you?

Bloominglovely · 19/12/2018 20:56

The Dublin boots are fab. I’ve bought anawful lot recently and wish I had t opened the link to them!

The one thing I don’t like about them is they wouldn’t look good with a dress/skirt. I think the fur around the top would make them look like old lady boots but would look great with jeans and trousers.

Tanaqui · 19/12/2018 20:59

Timberland do knee high lace ups and mine seem waterproof - would recommend, except they don’t have a side zip so you do have to actually do the laces!

WitchDancer · 19/12/2018 21:04

I love my sketchers boots, which are the most comfortable footwear I have ever bought. They are really warm too as they have a furry lining

professionalnomad · 20/12/2018 06:35

Just bought myself these

I have shearling lined Docs which are warm and practical if prepped with Dubbin

With your shoe size, have you looked in the men's winter boot section?

Underoverunder · 20/12/2018 15:02

Good call on the men's boots. I liked a pair of Dune boots for women but they didn't go up to my size. I don't mind if they look a bit walking style but would prefer them to be higher than the classic Timberland lace up.

I bought these and they’re great.
