Skincare in pregnancy that actually does something!

Been crap with skincare and having has Botox in my forehead for years, now it's all long gone, I look flipping awful. Lines, big pores, flaky/dry (but odd spots too - thanks hormones). I also get these odd red spots on cheeks sometimes that are itchy as though irritated/allergic to something, but literally no rhyme or reason to that.

Currently using Sam Bunting's cleanser (which is ok), an Aldi serum (Q10) and a Superdrug moisturiser bought in desperation/laziness.

I know not meant to use retinol etc so any suggestions for stuff that might actually work? More than happy to spend decent money on products if works. Know I need to start using sunscreen again, and perhaps some facials??

Help! I'm nearly 38 BTW (and yes, I know I should just be happy I'm pregnant, but I'm vain and it's been a long and stressful road here!)

TIA

You can use AHAs - like lactic acid (ie the ordinary) or alpha H liquid gold. Good for improving texture and for breakouts but depends how senstive your skin is? For sunscreen u may have to try a few but I like LRP melt in cream.

Thanks @Elledorado! I wouldn’t have said (beyond the odd rash I get) that it’s particularly sensitive. Might be worth trying Liquid Gold. With moisturiser over top?
Thanks

Your skin can get more sensitive though with pregnancy, so maybe try a small amount to start with and only every couple of nights. I used it as a treatment at night - so cleanse then apply liquid gold, no moisturiser afterwards.

Bepabthen!!! I swear by it (from someone whose skin is like you describe even in non pregnancy!). It’s heavy, so best slathered in at night, but I do apply a thin layer over moisturiser in the day after showering. Plus it’s cheap. Plus you’ll have it on hand for your baby’s bum when it arrives!Grin

You can use Azelaic Acid while pregnant. I use the GOW one from Victoria Health which is less than a tenner I believe.
