Balayage is too blonde! How do I tone it down?

I went to get my hair done yesterday, I asked for a balayage and to keep it really subtle and sun-kissed. I've had it done there before about 2 years ago and loved the results, this time it's totally different! It's like they've dyed my whole hair different tones of light blonde! Possibly due to the toner? It really doesn't suit me.

Can I fix it at home without causing a disaster? Going back and complaining isn't an option as I'm too British, they spent 7 hours on my hair and it isn't a bad job I don't think but it isn't what I asked for.

You can't go wrong with purple shampoo. There's no due in it; it's just a toner. If you're not happy with it, you can use a deep cleansing or clarifying shampoo to remove the colour. And it won't take to the brown parts of your hair, only the blonde / yellow.

No DYE in it.

Just be careful with purple shampoo - it works to tone down brassiness but I learned the hard way that overuse can turn light blonde lilac! I can see why you’re unhappy btw, your hair looks nothing like what you asked for (fwiw I think your natural colour is lovely so would go back to that in future!)

Sorry to bring up such an old thread but this literally happened to me too at the end of last year!

I paid over 200 pounds for balayage and HATED it. I was used to having medium brown hair with blonde highlights so I don’t know why I jumped on the balayage trend. Anyway my hair turned super blonde and is still like shit thanks to the lockdown - I’ve just been trying to put loads of moisture back into it and Olaplexing the f*ck out of it.

What happened to your hair? Did you ever go back to get it fixed?? So curious! Grin
