Necklace with a cowl neck?

I've picked up a bargain black velvet cowl neck top in a charity shop - really like it, the neckline isn't too low (almost boat neck) or fussy and I think I'll wear it a lot over Christmas, but I've tried it on with various length necklaces and nothing sits right. I normally wear a simple silver pendant or long beads which clearly isn't working. Would a shorter, chunkier necklace work better or is it best with a bare neck (feels a bit underdressed but maybe just not what I'm used to)?

I think a pair of long earrings would look great. It sounds like a pretty neckline so best keep to things which don't interfere with it. If you're dead set on wearing a necklace then maybe a delicate sparkly choker? This wouldn't interrupt the neckline but would add some glamour.

Bare neck with statement earrings.

Hmm, don't wear earrings (ears not pierced) so I think statement earrings are out. Will try a choker and see how that looks. Thanks!

I wouldn't wear a necklace, the neckline is already the feature. If you don't wear earrings and really need to accessorise then how about a bracelet or some rings. I really don't think a necklace would look right!

I agree that a lovely bare open neckline looks ultra chic, and shouldn't be cluttered with jewellery. Throw your hair up, strapless bra (avoid straps for the day so you don't have indent lines too!) and wear a bold lip to emphasise

I don't think a choker will work with a cowl neck.
