Hairdryer help!

This topic has probably been done to death but here goes...

Can anyone recommend a hairdryer for long (bra-strap length), very thick hair? There seems to be so many out there so I'm a bit lost! Any recommendations very welcome; I'm prepared to spend up to £80 if it's a really good one (that rules out the Dyson, I can't justify that). GHD and Parlux have both come up in my searches so if anyone has either of those brands I'd love to know if they're worth it.

I'm after one that really cuts down drying time if that helps.

Thanks!

My GHD air cut drying time and is very easy to use, don’t need to straighten either if I use a large round brush and a good conditioner - I have waist length frizzy over dyed hair. I have my eye on a Dyson but can’t justify the cost, I can’t imagine it’s much better than the GHD air?

Thank you SSRainbow, that's really helpful!

I use the ghd air too - it’s very good. The main downside of it against the dyson would be the weight, however the ghd air isn’t unmanageable or difficult to use. If you’re near a John Lewis, you can see both of them in person which might help you make a choice.

I’ve had a babyliss hairdryer for over 10 years, I’ve just bought my d

I have both GHD and Parlux. Both are excellent. Also Cloud 9 (made by the guy who created GHD after he sold that business). Some people say Cloud 9s are better as they have newer technology. Parlux are in millions of salons across the globe so clearly they are excellent too. All good. Just personal preference for look and feel.

Thanks everyone! Perhaps a trip to John Lewis/Boots to test them out is in order...

I have a GHD one, it's brilliant. It dries my hair quickly, has diffuser setting (natural curls) and doesn't frazzle my hair. I'd highly recommend it.

I have had the GHD air and do rate it but don't think it's worth £100 at full price, I find it quite heavy, but it does perform well. Definitely look to get it on offer as it's alwon offer for about £80 somewhere or other.
I got a Babyliss 3Q recently on offer at £50 and I'm very happy with it, much lighter than the GHD air, super long cable, dries my long , slow to dry hair pretty quickly and has all the settings you'd reasonably want as well as looks non offensive. Good option if you want something 'good' that's a tad cheaper!

Thank you dontgobaconmyheart, that's really helpful. I've not seen the Babyliss so I'll take a look at that too Smile

I have a Diva which is excellent. We do have the Dyson but it isn't as powerful and the Diva is much quicker and I get a better finish. I think it was about £50 around 3 years ago.

We do have a Dyson but also have a Babyliss Boutique which dries hair almost as fast. (My dd & I did have a race because we are silly like that).

I have an Elchim 3900 (similar to Parlux I think) and it is amazing. Cut my blow dry time down to 10-15 minutes from dripping wet. (Depending on where it is between shoulder and waist length.
This may sound like a long time but my hair is wavy and insanely thick. Used to take 45 mins with a £50 hairdryer.
Dries faster than my hairdresser does it :)
Rarely need to use straightners any more as it blow dries straight really well because the airflow is through a thin blade nozzle and it's SO fast.
It's really comfortable to hold and well-balanced too. Because the nozzle end is relatively short you don't have to hold it at arms length either.
