Skirts, tights and hairspray

According to YouTube, if I spray hairspray on my lap after I've put my tights on, my skirt won't cling.

Is this true? Has anyone tried it?

Yes I have done this and it works. Bit flammable though hope you dong smoke!! Another tip is a safety pin in the hem

fringegrin45 · 04/12/2018 22:17

Don't not dong!!!!

ChishandFips33 · 04/12/2018 22:56

Not tried hairspray but I've heard the tip

I've discovered M&S cling resistant slips!

thefirstmrsdewinter · 04/12/2018 22:59

Bit of handcream on the tights works too.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 04/12/2018 23:18

Don't know about hairspray but body lotion definitely works or, call me old fashioned, a slip!

JellySlice · 04/12/2018 23:39

The dress is a bit small bodycon. No room for a slip!

What's the safety pin trick?

If it's small bodycon then hairspray won't stop it clinging Grin

If it's a static cling thing then a well fitting slip shouldn't add bulk

Maybe try a test run with the hairspray to make sure it doesn't wear off through the evening

Pin the safety pin under an inside seam at the side near the bottom -watch out it doesn't ladder your tights though

CrazySheepLady · 05/12/2018 06:38

A little fabric conditioner rubbed in can help, too.

JellySlice · 05/12/2018 06:59

I suppose what I need is more like lubrication than anti-static. When I walk it rides up against my tights, a bit like the way rugs 'walk' across carpeting.

So annoying. I've had this and if you try a slip it just ends up in all bunched up

ChishandFips33 · 05/12/2018 13:12

Honestly, try a slip with your dress in M&S

The have different lengths and colours - life changing

The cooling reversible one is my go to. Bought one from store and then more from eBay (new with tags cut out) in different lengths (much cheaper)

Everything is so much more flattering - even the dreaded tights waistband bulge!
