What hair style for unattractive 40 something with thinning hair?

So. Yes. I'm not particularly attractive. Bit wrinkly, decent cheekbones but big chin and thin lips. Big forehead.

Hair has always been pretty thick but I feel like it's thinning slightly around the hairline. It's currently 'lob' length, no particular style.

I'm thinking of chopping it shorter and cutting in a fringe? I've looked at hairstyles on Pinterest/Google but it's all beautiful young models so very hard to work out if it would suit this old boot. Is there a site for old, unattractive people to look at?

Tia

Is your hair coloured OP ?
I think a fringe sounds good, how about an off centre parting and a longer swept across fringe, a bit softer than a full one.

I'm growing out blonde hair dye! It kind of looks OK growing out as my roots are light brown. That sounds nice actually, less of a dramatic change than a full Fringe. I do feel like I need something to sort of frame my face a bit now. Thanks!

I’ve just had my hair cut in a bob with fringe and I’ve had heaps of compliments. My hair is very thin as a result of having anemia and it makes it look a lot fuller. Go blunt and try to avoid the stacked at the back look with volume layers, it only looks good on the models. I had blonde balyage through before and have about an inch of blonde still but the cut makes it look as if I have new highlights. Fringe is a bit more labour intensive. I have oily hair so I wash my fringe with my face wash daily and comb it down after I’ve moisturised ect

Thank you! I'm going to see if my local hairdresser can fit me in tomorrow and go for it I think. I tend to wash my hair every day anyway as I exercise most days. It will mean I have to get to the hairdresser more regularly but that's probably a good thing anyway

Try googling “Korean glass fringe” for pics of subtle fringes

Thanks burp, that also brought up lots of links for buying a clip in Fringe! Never knew such a thing existed but I'm tempted to buy one to see how I look before I commit - purely for use in my own home.
